API Pond Ph UP 473ml

Raises pond pH gradually, without a caustic spike. API Pond pH Up is a phosphate-free, nitrate-free buffer that neutralises acidity and lifts a low pond pH back into a safe range for fish and plants – working gradually rather than jolting the water chemistry. This 473 mL bottle doses roughly 8,900 L of pond water at the standard rate, at under 1c per litre treated.

Key features
  • Buffers pH upward by neutralising acidic substances in the water, rather than a strong caustic adjustment that can overshoot.
  • Phosphate-free and nitrate-free – won't feed algae or unbalance a planted pond the way some pH adjusters can.
  • Capped at a 0.5 pH-unit rise per 24 hours by design, so fish aren't shocked by a sudden swing.
  • Under 1c per litre of pond water treated – 473 mL doses roughly 8,900 L at the standard rate.

Dosage and directions
  1. Test pond pH first with an API pond or aquarium pH test kit.
  2. Add 10 mL (2 tsp) per 190 L (50 US gal) of pond water, ideally into an area of water flow so it disperses.
  3. Wait 24 hours, then retest before dosing again.
  4. Do not raise pH by more than 0.5 units in any 24-hour period.
  5. Test in the morning for the most consistent reading – pond pH naturally drifts up during the day as plants photosynthesise.
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for:

  • Ponds with plants, thanks to the phosphate-free, nitrate-free formula
  • Ponds running a persistently low or acidic pH that needs correcting over several days

Not suitable for:

  • Rapid correction of a severely low pH in an emergency – the deliberately gradual, capped dosing makes this a maintenance tool, not a fast fix. If fish are in acute distress, address the underlying cause and seek advice rather than dosing repeatedly to force a faster change.
Care and maintenance

Retest regularly rather than dosing on a fixed schedule – pond pH drifts with plant photosynthesis, rainfall and topping up, so dose to a reading in hand, not to a calendar.

Safety and handling
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • A Safety Data Sheet is available from API on request.
  • Standard handling precautions for pond water-chemistry products apply – avoid skin and eye contact, wash hands after use.
Warranty and delivery

This is a consumable pond treatment, so no manufacturer warranty period applies. That doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law – if the product is faulty, unsafe or not as described, you're entitled to a remedy. Ships as standard freight.

Common questions

How fast will this raise my pond's pH?

Dosing is capped at a 0.5 pH-unit rise per 24 hours by design, so expect a gradual change over several days rather than an instant fix.

Is it safe for pond plants?

Yes – the formula is phosphate-free and nitrate-free, so it won't feed algae or unbalance a planted pond.

Can I dose more than once a day to speed things up?

No – do not exceed one dose per 24 hours, and don't raise pH by more than 0.5 units in that period.

When should I test pond pH?

Test in the morning, since pH naturally rises through the day as pond plants photosynthesise.

What if my pond's pH is critically low?

This product is a gradual maintenance buffer, not an emergency treatment. Identify and address the underlying cause of the acidity, and seek professional advice if fish are showing acute distress.
