API Pond Care Melafix 473ml

A natural antibacterial remedy for wounds, ulcers and fin damage in pond fish. API Pond MelaFix uses melaleuca (cajuput oil) extract to support healing in koi, goldfish and other pond fish carrying open wounds, ulcers, or fin and tail rot, and to ease the stress of introducing new fish to an established pond. This 473 mL bottle doses roughly 17,900 L of pond water across a standard 7-day course, at under 1c per litre treated.

Key features
  • Active ingredient: Melaleuca (Cajuput Oil) 5.0% – declared at 5 g per 100 mL.
  • Treats bacterial infections – ulcers, open wounds and fin/tail rot – and supports tissue regrowth.
  • Also used preventatively for 3 days when introducing new fish to an established pond.
  • Won't harm the biological filter, snails, plants or surrounding wildlife when dosed as directed.
  • Under 1c per litre of pond water treated across a standard course – 473 mL doses roughly 17,900 L.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for:

  • Koi, goldfish and other pond fish with wounds, ulcers or fin/tail rot
  • New-fish introduction, to reduce disease risk

Not suitable for:

  • Suspected parasitic or fungal disease – this is an antibacterial remedy, not a broad-spectrum medication
  • Indoor aquariums – this bottle is the ornamental pond formulation; API sells a separate aquarium MelaFix for indoor tanks
Care and maintenance

Dose daily for the full course length rather than stopping early once symptoms ease. A stressed, medicated pond is also more prone to an ammonia spike, so it's worth checking water quality alongside the treatment.

Safety and handling
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • The US label carries a California Proposition 65 warning that the product contains a chemical known to that state to cause cancer or reproductive harm; this is a US-market label disclosure rather than an Australian hazard classification.
  • For ornamental pond use only.
  • No curative claims – this product supports healing and treats the stated symptoms as directed; it is not a guaranteed cure.
Goes well with
  • API Stress Coat – conditions tap water for the water change once the treatment course is finished.
Warranty and delivery

This is a consumable medication, so no manufacturer warranty period applies. That doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law – if the product is faulty, unsafe or not as described, you're entitled to a remedy. Ships as standard freight.
