QHU18e seal ring (QHU18M)
Bioscape Adaptor Head Seal Ring for QHU18e /BIS32,33 & 34
The seal that keeps your Tropic canister's head watertight. This adaptor head seal ring (Bioscape's QHU18e design) is the genuine replacement O-ring for the inlet/outlet head assembly on the Bioscape Tropic Canister Filter 1800 lph (BIS32), 2200 lph (BIS33) and 2200 lph UV 9W (BIS34).
Key features
- Genuine Bioscape part — matched to the QHU18e head used across the three largest Tropic canister models
- Seals the head-to-canister union — the most common point for a slow drip or weeping leak on these filters
- One ring covers three models — BIS32, BIS33 and BIS34 share the same head assembly
- No tools needed — lifts off the old ring and seats the new one by hand

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for BIS32, BIS33 and BIS34 only. Not suitable for the 800 lph (BIS30) or 1200 lph (BIS31) models — those use the smaller QHU18d head and take the QHU18d seal ring instead. On the BIS34, this ring seals the same head housing the UV lamp connects through, so a worn ring can show up as a leak around the UV chamber as well as the main head.
Fitting
Symptom this fixes: a slow weep or drip where the filter head meets the canister body, usually noticed as a damp patch under the unit. Depressurise and disconnect the filter, separate the head from the canister, lift out the old ring, seat the new one in the same groove, and reassemble. No tools required.
Warranty and delivery
Sold as a spare part; not separately warranted beyond standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight applies.
Common questions
How do I know if I need this seal or the QHU18d one?
Check your filter's flow rate. 1800 lph (BIS32), 2200 lph (BIS33) and 2200 lph UV (BIS34) use the larger QHU18e head and take this ring. 800 lph and 1200 lph models use the smaller QHU18d head.
Does this ring work on the UV model (BIS34)?
Yes — the BIS34 shares the same QHU18e head as the BIS32 and BIS33, just with a UV steriliser attached.
My filter is dripping at the head — is this the fix?
A perished or compressed seal ring is the most common cause of a leak at the head join on these filters, and it's worth replacing first before assuming a bigger fault.
Do I need any tools to fit it?
No — it lifts off and seats back on by hand.
