Bioscape Reptile Birch Hide 25.5 x 9 x 7.5cm Medium

A resin hide finished to look like natural birch. The Bioscape Reptile Birch Hide is a cast resin ornament styled as a hollow birch branch, sized at 25.5 × 9 × 7.5 cm (medium) to give small to medium reptiles, and fish or shrimp in a planted aquascape, a place to retreat out of sight.

Key features
  • Resin, not real wood — cast and finished to replicate birch bark and grain, so it won't rot, mould or leach tannins the way real driftwood can.
  • Enclosed hide cavity — an open-ended tunnel shape animals can pass through and shelter inside.
  • Dual-purpose — sized and finished for reptile and amphibian enclosures as well as freshwater and marine aquascapes.
  • Won't affect water chemistry — inert resin construction, safe to submerge in an aquarium as well as use dry in a terrarium.

Will it fit my tank or enclosure?

At 25.5 cm long, this is the smaller of the two sizes Bioscape makes — check it against your enclosure or tank footprint before ordering, and size up to the 32.5 × 14 × 8 cm large hide for bigger reptiles or larger aquascapes.

Which size do I need?
Hide Dimensions Best suited to
Medium — this product (BIS436) 25.5 × 9 × 7.5 cm Smaller lizards, geckos and juvenile snakes; nano to standard aquascapes
Large (BIS435) 32.5 × 14 × 8 cm Larger lizards and snakes; bigger display tanks
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for reptile and amphibian enclosures where a secure, dry hide is needed, and for freshwater or marine aquariums and aquascapes as a shelter or ornament. Not a substitute for a humid hide where a species needs elevated moisture at the retreat — the resin surface doesn't hold humidity the way a moss- or substrate-lined hide does.

Care and maintenance

Rinse thoroughly under running water before adding it to a tank or enclosure, to clear any manufacturing dust. It's inert and needs no soaking or curing, and wipes clean with water — harsh chemical cleaners aren't needed on resin.

Warranty and delivery

Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Is this real wood?

No — it's cast resin finished to replicate the look of birch bark and grain. It won't break down, mould or leach tannins the way real driftwood can.

Can I use it in a fish tank?

Yes. It's inert and safe for freshwater and marine aquariums as well as reptile and amphibian enclosures.

Will it affect my water chemistry?

No — resin doesn't alter pH or hardness.

Does it hold humidity for species that need it?

Not on its own. For species that need a humid hide, line it with damp substrate or sphagnum moss rather than relying on the resin surface.
