Bioscape Carbon Extraction Cubes 100+
Loose carbon cubes that fill any filter's media basket, not just Bioscape's own. Each pack holds 100+ activated-carbon poly-fibre cubes, about 4 × 3 cm each, so you fill the tray to the depth your filter needs instead of being locked into one brand's pre-cut cartridge.
Key features
- 100+ cubes per pack – enough to refill most media baskets several times over, or top up several filters.
- Fits any basket-style filter – canister, power, trickle, wet/dry and pond filters all take loose media.
- Removes tannins, odour and discolouration – activated carbon adsorbs dissolved organics, chlorine and phenols.
- Freshwater and marine safe.

Will it fit my filter?
These are loose media, not a shaped cartridge, so fit isn't model-specific – pack enough cubes into your media basket or bag to match the volume your existing carbon cartridge takes up. They suit any filter with an open media tray or a mesh media bag rather than a filter that only accepts a proprietary sealed cartridge.
Care and maintenance
Bioscape recommends changing the cubes every 30–60 days depending on fish load – plan on the shorter end in a heavily stocked tank, and use a nitrate or general water test as the real guide rather than the calendar alone. Exhausted carbon isn't harmful left in the filter, it simply stops adsorbing.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: any filter with a media basket or bag – freshwater or marine.
- Not suitable for: filters that only accept a sealed, shaped cartridge with no room for loose media.
Warranty and delivery

Common questions
How many cubes do I need per filter?
Enough to fill your media basket to roughly the depth of your old carbon cartridge – Bioscape doesn't publish an exact count per filter size since baskets vary by brand.
How often should I replace them?
Every 30–60 days depending on stocking level, sooner in a heavily fed or heavily stocked tank.
Can I mix these with biological or mechanical media in the same basket?
Yes – carbon cubes are typically run alongside foam and bio-media in the same tray, in a separate stage or mesh bag.
