Bioscape Gorilla Skull 18 x 13 x 16cm
A weathered primate skull built to double as a fish cave. The Bioscape Gorilla Skull is an 18 x 13 x 16cm aquarium ornament cast in Bioscape's aquarium-safe resin, sculpted with an open jaw and eye sockets that form genuine swim-through gaps rather than purely decorative detail. It's finished to look naturally aged rather than painted flat, and it's built for permanent placement in freshwater or saltwater tanks.
Key features
- Open jaw and eye sockets — form real swim-through and hiding gaps, not just surface texture.
- Weathered bone finish — hand-detailed shading gives the piece depth rather than a flat single colour.
- Aquarium-safe resin — non-toxic and inert, won't affect pH or hardness.
- Freshwater and saltwater safe — no restriction on tank type.
- Stable footprint — the skull's base gives it a low centre of gravity on gravel or sand.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: community freshwater tanks, marine and reef-style displays, and any aquascape built around a natural-history or curiosity theme.
- Not suitable for: tanks stocked with large cichlids or other fish prone to moving or wedging themselves in decor, which can rock a piece this size loose over time.
Care and maintenance
Rinse under tap water before placing it in the tank to clear packaging dust. During routine cleaning, brush off algae film with a soft aquarium brush rather than a scourer, which can dull the painted detail. It's safe to leave in place indefinitely.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects on arrival, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel item — no special freight handling required.
Common questions
Will it affect my water chemistry?
No. The resin is inert and won't change pH or hardness in freshwater or saltwater.
Can fish swim through the eye sockets?
Small to medium fish can use the eye sockets and jaw gap as swim-throughs; the openings aren't sized for large-bodied fish.
Does it need rinsing before use?
A light rinse under tap water is enough to remove dust from shipping.
Is it reef safe?
The resin itself is inert and safe in a reef tank; as with any decor, avoid positioning it where coral placement would trap detritus behind it.
