Bioscape Hide Log 22 x 15 x 10cm
A hollow log ornament sized for a genuine hide, not just a decoration. The Bioscape Hide Log measures 22 x 15 x 10 cm and, like the rest of the Bioscape ornament range, is cast from durable, non-toxic resin rather than real driftwood – so there's no tannin staining, no soaking, and no risk of it waterlogging and sinking unevenly. It gives fish and shrimp a ready-made hollow to retreat into.
Key features
- Genuine hollow interior – a cavity through the log, sized for fish and shrimp to pass through and shelter in, rather than a shallow surface recess.
- Cast resin, not real wood – no tannin release, no pre-soak, and it won't decompose or soften the way driftwood eventually can.
- Stable, non-floating construction – unlike untreated driftwood, it doesn't need weighting down to stop it floating once submerged.
- Textured bark-effect finish – styled to read as natural driftwood from tank height.
- 22 x 15 x 10 cm footprint – sized for a mid-tank feature in a standard community or planted set-up.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater community and shrimp tanks, and marine or reef-adjacent displays. Not a substitute for a rated basking platform in a reptile enclosure – it's an aquascaping ornament, not weight-tested furniture.
Care and maintenance
Rinse thoroughly before adding it to the tank. Because it's resin rather than driftwood, it needs no curing, soaking or tannin management, and it can be scrubbed clean with an aquarium-safe brush during routine maintenance without the surface breaking down.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects on arrival, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight.
Common questions
Will it stain my water like real driftwood?
No. It's cast resin, not wood, so it doesn't release tannins and won't tint the water.
Do I need to soak it before use?
No pre-soak is needed – rinse it to clear any dust, then place it straight in the tank.
Will it float?
No. Unlike real driftwood it's solid resin, so it sits on the substrate without weighting.
Is it safe for shrimp?
Yes – it's non-toxic and the hollow interior gives shrimp a low-traffic space to shelter and moult.
