Bioscape Phantom Driftwood 1 Piece
A single natural driftwood piece that sinks on its own. Bioscape Phantom Driftwood is sold as one hand-selected piece, ready to go into a freshwater aquarium, paludarium or planted terrarium as a natural centrepiece or hardscape anchor.
Key features
- Self-sinking – genuine driftwood that sits on the substrate without weighting or gluing, unlike lighter woods that need to be tied down.
- Hand-selected, one piece – each piece is naturally shaped, so no two are identical; the photo on this listing shows the actual size, shape and colour of the piece you'll receive.
- Multi-habitat use – suited to aquarium, paludarium and terrarium builds alike.
Specifications
| Material | Quantity | Sinks or needs soaking |

| Natural driftwood | 1 piece | Self-sinking |
Bioscape doesn't publish a fixed size or weight for this piece – as with all hand-selected driftwood, dimensions vary naturally from piece to piece, and the product photo is the actual item for sale rather than a generic stock shot.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater aquariums, paludariums and planted terrariums as a natural centrepiece. Not pre-sterilised for reptile enclosures housing species sensitive to mould – inspect and clean any driftwood before use in a terrarium, the same as you would with any natural material.
Care and maintenance
Driftwood releases tannins into the water, which will tint it a light tea colour – harmless, and it fades as the piece leaches out over the following weeks. Rinse the piece before use and run it through your filter with fresh carbon if you want to speed that fading up.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. As a natural product, colour and shape variation between pieces isn't a defect.
Common questions
Will it float instead of sinking?
No – Bioscape's driftwood is self-sinking and doesn't need weighting down for normal aquarium use.
Will it turn my water brown?
It will tint the water lightly with tannins at first. That's normal and fades over time, faster if you run fresh activated carbon in your filter.
Is the piece I receive the one in the photo?
Yes – because natural driftwood varies piece to piece, the photo on this listing is the actual item you'll be sent.
Is it safe for shrimp and plecos?
Driftwood is a standard, widely used hardscape material for shrimp and plecos, but rinse it before adding it to the tank as you would with any new decor.
