Bioscape Steampunk Fish Medium 20 x 5.5 x 19cm
A taller mechanical fish silhouette built as a vertical accent among low hardscape. The Bioscape Steampunk Fish Medium is a hand-finished, non-toxic resin aquarium ornament at 20 × 5.5 × 19 cm, styled as a riveted, gear-panelled fish standing taller than it is long.
Key features
- Vertical profile – at 19 cm tall against a 5.5 cm footprint, this size reads as height rather than length, useful for balancing a scape that's otherwise all low hardscape.
- Hand-finished resin – cast and hand-painted, so texture and colour vary slightly piece to piece.
- Riveted, gear-panelled body – mechanical detailing moulded into the resin rather than printed on, so it doesn't wear off with cleaning.
- Open swim-through gaps – panel gaps along the body let fish and shrimp pass through rather than just hide alongside it.

Which steampunk fish size do I need?
Bioscape sells this design across three sizes. The comparison below covers all three so you can weigh height and footprint against your tank before ordering.
| Model | Dimensions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Steampunk Fish Small | 10.5 × 4.5 × 10 cm | Nano tanks and tight aquascapes |
| Steampunk Fish Medium | 20 × 5.5 × 19 cm | A taller vertical accent among low hardscape |
| Steampunk Fish | 24 × 8 × 12 cm | A full-length centrepiece with the most footprint |
This Medium size has the smallest footprint of the three but the tallest profile after the standard size – it's the pick where you want height in the aquascape rather than length, for example standing against a rear wall of low rockwork.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and marine aquariums wanting a steampunk-styled vertical accent with genuine swim-through gaps. Not designed or finished as a reptile climbing or basking feature – it's an aquatic ornament, not a terrarium piece.
Care and maintenance
Rinse thoroughly under running water before adding it to the tank to clear any manufacturing dust or loose resin particles. No soaking or curing is required – it's inert and won't affect pH or water chemistry.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Will it affect my water chemistry?
No – it's a non-toxic, inert resin that doesn't alter pH or hardness.
Does it float or sink?
It sinks and sits in place on the substrate; no gluing or weighting down is needed for normal use.
Will this fit in a nano tank?
At 19 cm tall it needs reasonable water depth to sit clear of the surface – check your tank's internal height before ordering. The Small size (10 cm tall) is the better fit for genuinely nano setups.
Is it reef safe?
Bioscape markets it as safe for both freshwater and marine setups, but as with any ornament in a sensitive reef system, rinse it well and introduce it gradually if you're being cautious.
