A compact mechanical fish sized for nano tanks and tight aquascapes. The Bioscape Steampunk Fish Small is a hand-finished, non-toxic resin aquarium ornament at 10.5 × 4.5 × 10 cm, styled as a riveted, gear-panelled fish scaled down to suit smaller setups.
Key features
- Nano-friendly footprint – at 10.5 cm long and 10 cm tall, this is the smallest of the three steampunk fish sizes, sized to sit comfortably in a nano or shrimp tank without dominating it.
- Hand-finished resin – cast and hand-painted, so texture and colour vary slightly piece to piece.
- Riveted, gear-panelled body – mechanical detailing moulded into the resin rather than printed on, so it doesn't wear off with cleaning.

This Small size is the only one of the three genuinely suited to nano tanks and shrimp tanks under roughly 30 cm – the Medium and standard sizes will visually overwhelm a tank that small.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for nano freshwater and marine aquariums and shrimp tanks wanting a steampunk-styled ornament with genuine swim-through gaps. Not designed or finished as a reptile climbing or basking feature – it's an aquatic ornament, not a terrarium piece.
Care and maintenance
Rinse thoroughly under running water before adding it to the tank to clear any manufacturing dust or loose resin particles. No soaking or curing is required – it's inert and won't affect pH or water chemistry.

Common questions
Will it affect my water chemistry?
No – it's a non-toxic, inert resin that doesn't alter pH or hardness.
Does it float or sink?
It sinks and sits in place on the substrate; no gluing or weighting down is needed for normal use.
Is it too small for shrimp to use as a hide?
No – the swim-through gaps are sized generously relative to the ornament, so shrimp and small fish can move through and around it comfortably.
Is it reef safe?
Bioscape markets it as safe for both freshwater and marine setups, but as with any ornament in a sensitive reef system, rinse it well and introduce it gradually if you're being cautious.
