Exo Terra All Glass Low Terrarium - 60 x 45 x 30cm
Sixty centimetres of length is where a real thermal gradient starts.
The Exo Terra All Glass Low Terrarium (60 × 45 × 30 cm / 24 × 18 × 12 in) is a front-opening glass enclosure with roughly 2,700 cm² of floor. The extra 15 cm over the 45 cm model runs along one axis, which is what gives a ground-dwelling reptile a genuine warm end and cool end to choose between. The Exo Terra Rock Terrarium Background is included.
Key features
- 60 cm long axis – enough length to put a basking lamp at one end and leave the other end genuinely cooler, which is the whole point of a terrestrial enclosure.
- Roughly 2,700 cm² of floor – a third more ground than the 45 cm Low, at identical height, so it fits the same shelf.
- Extra-high fixed front window – takes a deep substrate or a shallow water section without it running out of the doors.
- Raised waterproof base – a substrate heater sits underneath the glass, and the floor holds damp substrate and a drainage layer.
- Dual front-opening doors – side access rather than reaching in from overhead.
- Removable stainless steel mesh top – UVB and infrared pass through it, and the whole screen lifts away for cleaning.
- Front window ventilation – draws air across the inside of the front glass so the viewing pane stays clear.
- Five closable wire and tube inlets – two thermostat probes, a heat mat lead and a misting line all pass through without an escape gap.

Which Exo Terra glass terrarium do I need?
| Model | Size (W × D × H) | Imperial | Floor area | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Wide | 30 × 30 × 30 cm | 12 × 12 × 12 in | approx. 900 cm² | PT2600 |
| Small Low | 45 × 45 × 30 cm | 18 × 18 × 12 in | approx. 2,025 cm² | PT2603 |
| Medium Low | 60 × 45 × 30 cm | 24 × 18 × 12 in | approx. 2,700 cm² | PT2604 |
| Large Wide | 90 × 45 × 45 cm | 36 × 18 × 18 in | approx. 4,050 cm² | PT2613 |
This is the largest of the three 30 cm-high models, and the sensible default for a terrestrial animal that does not climb. The 45 × 45 × 30 cm Low costs less and fits a narrower shelf, but its square footprint gives you a shorter run to build the gradient along. Move to the 90 × 45 × 45 cm Large Wide when you need both more floor and the extra 15 cm of height that lets a UVB lamp sit at a workable distance.
What you can mount above it
Height, not length, sets your lamp distance. At 30 cm external height this enclosure gives the same limited clearance as the smaller Low model, so the length advantage does not extend to lighting.
| Where the animal sits | Approximate distance below the screen top |
|---|---|
| On the substrate | Under 30 cm |
| On a hide or rock around 8 cm high | Under 22 cm |
| On a raised basking platform around 15 cm | Under 15 cm |
Compare those numbers with the minimum mounting distance and UV index chart for the lamp you plan to use. Deep substrate reduces the gap further, and a basking platform reduces it a lot. Exo Terra does not publish an internal clear height for this model, so measure the assembled terrarium before choosing a lamp.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for
- Terrestrial reptiles whose published minimum footprint fits within 60 × 45 cm
- Setups that need a measurable temperature difference between two ends
- Burrowing species and deep-substrate builds
- Bioactive enclosures with a drainage layer
Not suitable for
- Climbing and arboreal species – 30 cm of height is not vertical range
- Lamps that specify a minimum mounting distance greater than about 25 cm
- Adult central bearded dragons and similar animals, which are generally housed longer than 60 cm – check current Australian care guidance for your species
- Stacking without an independent rack, as no load rating is published
- Fully aquatic setups
Care and maintenance
- Spot-clean daily; strip and replace the substrate on the interval your setup needs.
- Take the screen top off before deep cleaning – with a 60 cm span it is much easier than reaching through the doors.
- Use a reptile-safe glass cleaner, not an ammonia-based household product.
- Recheck the gradient with a dual-probe thermometer after any change to substrate depth, decor or lamp position. Rearranging the furniture changes the temperatures.
- Rinse mineral deposits from the stainless mesh at each strip-down.
Goes well with
- Eco Tech EZY SET Digital Thermostat – required for any heat source in this enclosure.
- Eco Tech Dual Probe Digital Thermometer – one probe at each end, which is the only way to prove the 60 cm gradient works.
- Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 Desert Compact Fluorescent – compact UVB suited to a low enclosure.
- Zoo Med Desert Sand – loose arid substrate for the deep front pane.
- Exo Terra Large Wide Terrarium 90 × 45 × 45 cm – the step up when you need height as well as floor.
Warranty, delivery and Australian notes
Exo Terra warrants this terrarium against defects in materials and workmanship. Any manufacturer warranty applies in addition to the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
A 60 cm glass enclosure is bulky and fragile. It ships as an oversize fragile item, and is easier to carry with two people. Check the carton for damage as soon as it arrives, before unpacking.
The enclosure itself has no electrical parts and no approval marking. Every lamp, mat or emitter you add must be 240 V, 50 Hz with an Australian plug, and every heat source must run through a thermostat.
Common questions
What is the difference between the 45 cm and 60 cm Exo Terra Low Terrarium?
Both are 30 cm high and 45 cm deep. The 60 cm model adds 15 cm along one axis, taking floor area from roughly 2,025 cm² to roughly 2,700 cm² and giving a longer run for a thermal gradient. Nothing about the lamp clearance changes.
Can a bearded dragon live in a 60 x 45 x 30 cm terrarium?
Not as an adult. Australian care guidance generally puts adult central bearded dragons in an enclosure considerably longer than 60 cm, and the 30 cm height makes safe UVB mounting difficult. It can work as a juvenile or grow-on enclosure.
Does the 60 cm model need two lamps?
It depends on the species, not the enclosure. A single basking lamp at one end is what creates the gradient; adding a second lamp at the cool end usually destroys it. UVB is separate and is sized to the species.
Is the screen top strong enough to hold a dome fixture?
The stainless steel screen is designed to carry a lamp fixture, but a heavy dome over a 60 cm span is better supported on a lamp stand. A stand also lets you fine-tune the mounting distance, which a screen-mounted dome cannot.
Can I run a paludarium or water section in it?
The base is waterproof and the front pane is extra-high, so a shallow water section is possible. Exo Terra does not publish a maximum water depth for this model, so keep any water section shallow and treat the enclosure as a terrarium rather than a tank.
Will the rock background take up floor space?
Yes. The included background sits against the rear glass and reduces usable depth. If floor area is the reason you are buying this size, factor that in or leave the background out.
