Exo Terra makes this bulb for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates only, such as a basking area over water for turtles. It does not give UVB, so species that need UVB still need a separate UVB lamp. Choose the wattage to suit the enclosure and the room, and check the basking spot with a thermometer.

Use a fixture with a ceramic socket rated for the wattage. Splash resistant does not mean waterproof, so keep the fixture and socket out of the water. The glass gets very hot in use; let it cool before handling.
