Exo Terra Water Well
Fresh water available without a daily top-up. The Exo Terra Water Well is a gravity-fed drinking dispenser for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, cast in the same natural rock-look finish as the rest of the Exo Terra hydration range. A raised reservoir feeds a small drinking basin as the animal drinks, so water stays available for longer than an open dish alone.
Key features
- Gravity-fed reservoir – automatically tops up the drinking basin as the level drops, rather than relying on a single open bowl.
- Screened reservoir opening – keeps feeder insects and small animals from climbing into the water store itself.
- Built-in safety steps – let a small animal that does end up in the basin climb back out.
- Stable, tip-resistant base and a natural rock-look finish that blends into planted or naturalistic terrariums.
- Non-toxic, food-grade material with a smooth, easy-to-clean interior.

Exo Terra doesn't publish external dimensions or a confirmed capacity figure for this product code – see the note under Common questions below if you need a stated millilitre capacity.
Suitable for – and not suitable for
Suitable for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates that drink from standing water, and for keepers wanting water to stay available for longer between visits. Not a substitute for regular cleaning – a gravity dispenser reduces how often the basin runs dry, it doesn't reduce how often it needs rinsing.
Care and maintenance
Disassemble, rinse and refill regularly – a gravity reservoir still needs the same water-hygiene routine as an open dish, since bacteria can build up in the basin between visits even while the reservoir keeps it topped up.
Goes well with
- An Exo Terra Water Dish where a wider soaking area is also needed alongside a topped-up drinking supply.
- A misting routine or humidifier for species that need airborne moisture as well as standing water.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, in addition to any manufacturer term. Ships from our Brisbane / North Lakes warehouse.
Common questions
How does the gravity mechanism work?
Water sits in a raised, screened reservoir above the drinking basin. As the animal drinks and the basin level drops, air enters the reservoir and lets more water flow down to refill it – the same principle as a gravity pet waterer.
What size reservoir does this hold?
Exo Terra doesn't publish a separate capacity figure for this product code, so we're not stating one here. If you need a confirmed millilitre capacity, see our Water Well Dispenser Large (250 mL) listing, which states its capacity, or contact us before ordering.
Can small feeder insects get into the reservoir?
The reservoir opening is screened specifically to keep insects and small animals out of the water store.
Is this suitable for a species prone to drowning?
The basin includes safety steps for animals that climb in, but always check the basin depth against your animal's size, especially for hatchlings or very small species.
