Exo Terra Water Well Dispenser Large 250ml
A confirmed 250 mL reservoir that tops itself up. The Exo Terra Water Well Dispenser (Large, 250 mL) is a gravity-fed drinking dispenser for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates: a raised, screened reservoir holds a stated 250 mL and gradually refills the drinking basin below it as the animal drinks, so water is available for days rather than hours.
Key features
- 250 mL reservoir – confirmed capacity, sized for enclosures where daily top-ups aren't practical, such as over a weekend away.
- Gravity-fed refill – the basin tops itself up from the reservoir as the water level drops.
- Screened reservoir opening – stops feeder insects and small animals reaching the water store itself.
- Built-in safety steps in the basin, so an animal that climbs in can climb back out.
- Natural rock-look finish in non-toxic, food-grade material with a smooth, easy-clean interior.

Suitable for – and not suitable for
Suitable for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates kept in enclosures where daily bowl refills aren't practical, and for keepers wanting several days' buffer between top-ups. Not a substitute for cleaning on a normal schedule – the reservoir keeps the basin full, it doesn't keep the basin clean, and a full basin left too long between rinses still grows bacteria.
Care and maintenance
Disassemble, rinse and refill both the reservoir and the basin on a normal cleaning schedule, even though the reservoir means the basin itself won't run dry between cleans.
Goes well with
- An Exo Terra Water Dish where a separate, wider soaking area is also wanted.
- A smaller-capacity Water Well for nano enclosures where 250 mL is more reservoir than the space needs.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, in addition to any manufacturer term. Ships from our Brisbane / North Lakes warehouse.
Common questions
How long does 250 mL last?
It depends on the animal, the basin size and evaporation in your enclosure, so we won't put a days figure on it that we can't verify – but a 250 mL reservoir is sized to outlast a standard open dish by a wide margin, which is the point of the design.
How does the gravity mechanism work?
The 250 mL reservoir sits above the drinking basin behind a screened opening. As the animal drinks and the basin level drops, water flows down from the reservoir to refill it automatically.
Does this need cleaning if the reservoir keeps it full?
Yes – clean the reservoir and basin on the same schedule you'd use for any water dish. A topped-up basin can still grow bacteria if it isn't rinsed regularly.
Is this the same product as your other Exo Terra Water Well listing?
Both are gravity-fed dispensers from Exo Terra's Water Well range using the same mechanism. This listing is the version with a manufacturer-confirmed 250 mL reservoir; check the specifications table on each listing if you need to compare before ordering.
