Fluval 304/305/306 & 404/405/406/407 Ribbed Hosing 14ml

Kink-proof hose for the whole 04/05/06/07 canister generation.

This is genuine Fluval ribbed hosing, part A20015, sold as a single 3 m (9.8 ft) length at 17 mm outside diameter. It is the same non-kink tubing Fluval fits between the motor head and the intake and output stems on the 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407 canister filters, and the ribbing means it holds its bore through the bends behind a stand where a smooth hose would pinch flat.

Key features
  • Genuine Fluval A20015 – the exact ribbed profile Fluval uses in the box, not a generic aquarium hose sold by the metre.
  • Non-kink ribbing – stays open through the tight bend behind a cabinet or stand where smooth-wall tubing collapses.
  • One length does both runs – 3 m is enough to cut an intake and an output hose on most tanks, with spare to allow for stand height.
  • Fresh and marine safe – the same tubing runs saltwater sumps and freshwater tanks without degrading.

Will it fit my filter?

Fluval lists A20015 against the 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407 canister filters. The same 17 mm ribbed hose is also the one long-running specialist retailers supply for the older 304 and 404 units, which share the same stem size, though Fluval's current parts listing covers the 305-407 range explicitly.

Filter model Takes A20015 hosing
304 / 404 Yes – same 17 mm stem, per specialist retailer parts lists
305 / 405 Yes – Fluval's own listed fitment
306 / 406 Yes – Fluval's own listed fitment
307 / 407 Yes – Fluval's own listed fitment

It does not fit the FX-series canisters, which use a larger-bore hose.

What's included
  • 1 x 3 m ribbed hose
Not included
  • Rubber adapters – the fittings that seal the hose onto the intake and output stems are a separate part.
  • Intake strainer – sold separately.
  • Hose clamps are not required with the ribbed-and-adapter system Fluval uses on this range.
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for replacing a hardened, kinked or perished hose, or fitting a second intake/output run on a new setup. Not suitable for the FX2, FX4 or FX6 canisters, and not a substitute for the rubber adapter that actually seals the joint at each end.

Care and maintenance

Check the hose at each service for a chalky, stiff feel or hairline cracking near the stem – that is early degradation, not just discolouration, and it is the point to replace rather than wait for a leak. Cut square with a sharp blade rather than scissors, so the adapter seats evenly.

Warranty and delivery

Supplied as genuine Fluval replacement tubing. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.

Common questions

Can I cut this hose to length?

Yes. It is sold as a 3 m length specifically so it can be trimmed to suit the intake and output runs on your own stand.

Does one length do both the intake and the output?

Yes, on most tank and stand combinations. Very tall stands or a filter mounted well below the tank may need a second length.

Will this fit a Fluval 304 or 404?

The 304 and 404 use the same 17 mm stem as the 305-407 range and specialist parts retailers list this hose against them, though it's worth checking your existing hose diameter before ordering if your unit is second-hand or older.

Does it need a separate clamp to hold it on?

No. Fluval's system relies on the rubber adapter for the seal, not a hose clamp.
