Fluval 305/405 306/406 Rubber Adapter
Restores a leak-tight seal where the hose meets the valve.
This is the genuine Fluval rubber hose adapter, part A20117, sold as a pack of two. It is the small rubber sleeve that seats inside the Aqua-Stop shut-off valve and grips the ribbed intake and output hosing. Fluval lists it against eight canister models spanning four generations – 304/404, 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407 – so one pack covers almost any 06 or 07 Series filter in the house.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20117 – moulded to the Aqua-Stop valve profile, so it seals without over-tightening a hose clamp.
- Pack of two – enough to redo the intake and output side of one filter in a single service.
- Fits eight filter models – 304, 404, 305, 405, 306, 406, 307 and 407 all take the same adapter.
- Cheap insurance against a slow weep – a perished or flattened adapter is the most common cause of a drip at the hose joint, well before the pump or seal is worn out.

Will it fit my filter?

The 304 and 404 are earlier, discontinued models – this adapter is still current stock, so a filter that age is not orphaned. It does not fit the 05 Series (105/205, 106/206, 107/207) or the FX Series, which use a different valve and hose fitting.
What's included
- 2 x rubber hose adapters
Not included
- The Aqua-Stop valve. This is the sleeve that sits inside it, not the valve body.
- Ribbed hosing. Sold separately by length.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a weeping or dripping hose joint, a perished or flattened adapter found during a service, and older 304/404 or 305/405 filters where the original adapter has hardened with age.
Not suitable for the 05 Series (105/205, 106/206, 107/207) or FX Series canisters – those use a different connector and this adapter will not seat correctly.
Care and maintenance
Check both adapters at every filter service. A flattened adapter looks fine until the hose is under pressure, so squeeze it gently rather than just eyeballing it. Replace both sides together – if one has perished, the other is usually close behind.
Goes well with
- 306/406 intake stem and strainer – the other end of the same hose run
- 305–407 motor head gasket – check this at the same service if the hose joint was weeping
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. No separate manufacturer warranty term is quoted on rubber service parts. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Does A20117 fit both the intake and output hose?
Yes. The pack of two is sized to do one adapter on each side in a single service.
Will this adapter fit my Fluval 104 or 204?
Fluval does not list the 104 or 204 against this part number. Confirm your model code on the filter's rating label before ordering.
My filter is dripping at the hose – is this the fix?
It's the most common cause. Check the adapter for flattening or splitting first before assuming the pump seal has failed.
Do I need a hose clamp as well?
The adapter seals against the Aqua-Stop valve on its own. A clamp is not required for a standard installation.
