Fluval 305/306 Filter Case
The reservoir body itself – the part that holds the tank's water when the lid is on.
This is the genuine Fluval filter case, part A20192, for the 305 (A211) and 306 (A212) canister filters. It is the clear outer canister that the media baskets sit inside and the motor head clips onto – the single part that keeps every litre of tank water where it belongs while the filter runs. This is the case only; your existing motor head, media baskets and hoses transfer straight across.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20192 – the correct footprint and clip mounts for the 305/306 motor head and basket stack.
- Full-size reservoir replacement – for a case that has cracked, gone brittle, or been damaged, rather than a small seal or clip.
- Keeps your existing internals – media baskets, motor head and impeller assembly all carry over.
- Clear body – lets you see media colour and debris build-up at a glance.

What's included
- 1 x filter case (canister body)
Not included
- Motor head – sold separately.
- Media baskets and media – transfer from your old case or are bought separately.
- Lid seal / O-ring – check its condition when you rebuild; if it's flattened or perished, replace it at the same time.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a case that has cracked, developed stress fractures around the clip mounts, or gone cloudy and brittle with age. Not suitable for the 405, 406, 307 or 407, which use different case sizes.
Safety
A cracked or brittle case is a flood risk on a running tank, not just a cosmetic fault. Inspect the case at every service, particularly around the lid seal ridge and the clip mounting points, and replace it at the first sign of stress cracking rather than waiting for a failure.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the new case before assembly and check the lid seal seats evenly all the way round before clipping the motor head down. Avoid over-tightening the clips – they're designed to seal on their own without force.
Goes well with
- Impeller assembly – worth checking while the filter is apart
- Ceramic impeller shaft – for the 304/305/404/405 range
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. This is a larger item and ships as a standard parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Will this fit my Fluval 405 or 406?
No. The 405/406 case is a different part, A20197. This case is sized for the 305 and 306 only.
Do I need to replace the motor head too?
No. This is the canister body only – your existing motor head clips straight onto it.
Can I reuse my old media baskets?
Yes. The internal dimensions are unchanged, so your existing baskets and media transfer across.
Why would a filter case need replacing?
Clear plastic canisters become brittle with age and UV exposure, and stress cracks can develop around the clip mounts from repeated opening. A cracked case is a leak risk and should be replaced rather than run on.
