Fluval EDGE Replacement Carbon 3 x 45gm
Genuine Fluval carbon sachets keep an EDGE aquarium's water clear without any loose granules to measure or spill. This is the manufacturer's Carbon Clean & Clear Renewal Sachet, Fluval part A1379, sized to drop straight into the Fluval EDGE power filter fitted to both the 23 L (6 US Gal) and 46 L (12 US Gal) EDGE Aquarium Kit. Three sealed 45 g sachets are included per pack.
Key features
- Premium-grade activated carbon – adsorbs dissolved impurities, tannins and discolouration that a mechanical pad can't remove on its own.
- Sealed mesh sachet – no loose granules to spill into the filter chamber or get pulled into the impeller.
- Drop-in fit – sized specifically for the EDGE power filter's media compartment, no cutting or repacking.
- Three sachets per pack – enough for two to three scheduled changes before a re-order is due.
- Genuine Fluval part A1379 – matched to the EDGE filter rather than a generic carbon bag.

Will it fit my Fluval EDGE?
This sachet is sized for the Fluval EDGE power filter fitted inside both EDGE tank sizes – the 23 L (6 US Gal) and the 46 L (12 US Gal) EDGE Aquarium Kit. It is not sized for other Fluval internal or canister filters, which take their own carbon media.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: freshwater and marine EDGE aquariums needing water polishing, odour control, or discolouration removal – after tannin-heavy driftwood or a dye-based treatment, for example.
- Not suitable for: use during a course of medication. Activated carbon strips most treatments out of the water before they can work – remove the sachet before dosing and replace it once the course is finished.
Care and maintenance
Rinse a new sachet briefly under tap water to clear carbon dust, then drop it into the EDGE filter's media compartment. Carbon exhausts its adsorption capacity well before the water looks discoloured again, so change it on a schedule – every 2–4 weeks – rather than waiting for visible signs.
Goes well with
- Fluval EDGE Pre Filter Sponge – the mechanical stage, worth rinsing at the same time as a carbon change.
- Fluval EDGE Foam & Biomax Kit – for a full media refresh rather than carbon alone.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Fluval's standard replacement-parts warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel freight applies – this is a small, lightweight item with no special handling requirements.
Common questions
Will this fit my original Fluval EDGE, or only the EDGE 2.0?
Both. The carbon sachet fits the power filter used across the EDGE range, original and 2.0, in either tank size.
Can I rinse and reuse a sachet instead of replacing it?
Rinsing removes trapped debris but doesn't restore the carbon's adsorption capacity, which is used up long before the mesh looks dirty. Replace rather than reuse for odour and discolouration control to keep working.
Do I need to remove the old sachet before adding the new one?
Yes – take out the spent sachet first. Running two at once doesn't add filtration benefit and crowds the media compartment.
