Genuine Fluval replacement bulb and gasket for the FX UVC In-Line Clarifier. This 6 W CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) bulb restores full UV-C output to a Fluval FX UVC unit, and comes with the gasket that seals it in place. UV-C output fades well before the visible glow does, so a bulb that still lights can already be doing little against green water.

Will it fit my UV unit?
This bulb fits the Fluval FX UVC In-Line Clarifier (part A199) — the 6 W UV-C unit designed for FX2/FX4/FX6 canister filters. Fluval also makes a separate, unrelated 3 W UVC In-Line Clarifier (part A198) for the 06/07 Series canister filters, which Fluval states explicitly is not for use with the FX Series. This 6 W bulb is not the correct replacement for that 3 W unit.
Care and maintenance
Replace the bulb every 2 years even if it still appears to be glowing — UV-C output drops well before visible light does, and an old bulb stops clearing green water while giving no visual warning. If the unit is ever dropped, open it and check the bulb and quartz tube for cracks before switching it back on.
Safety
Unplug the unit before removing or replacing the bulb. Never look directly at a lit UV-C bulb — direct exposure can damage eyes and skin, even briefly.
