Fluval FX2/FX4/FX5/FX6 Phosphate Pads 3 Pack
Phosphate remover pads cut to fit the Fluval FX canister baskets. These Fluval pads (Fluval item A262) are infused with a phosphate-removing resin, so they work as both mechanical media (they trap floating debris, excess food and waste) and chemical media (they take phosphate out of the water). Phosphate is a nutrient that feeds nuisance algae, and Fluval designs these pads to help control it. Fluval lists them for the FX2, FX4, FX5 and FX6 canister filters (a canister filter is a sealed filter that sits below the tank).

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for FX2, FX4, FX5 and FX6 filters on freshwater or saltwater tanks where phosphate is running high or algae is a problem. Not sized for Fluval's 07 series or G series filters, which have their own media. The pad controls phosphate, so it works alongside regular water changes and sensible feeding rather than replacing them.
Care
Test phosphate regularly. When readings start to climb again, the resin is spent and the pad should be replaced.
