Fluval FX4 Motor Unit w Seal Ring
The complete power end for a Fluval FX4 that hums without pumping, won't prime, or has stopped moving water – motor, power cord and a new seal ring in one genuine part. This is the genuine Fluval motor unit (part A20202) for the FX4 canister filter, sold with its power cord and a new motor seal ring for a watertight refit. It's a direct-fit swap onto your existing FX4 canister body – no rewiring, and far less than the cost of a new filter.

Will it fit your filter?
Confirmed for the Fluval FX4 only. Fluval builds a separate motor for each model in the range – the FX4's motor is not interchangeable with the FX6's, even though the canister bodies look similar. If your filter is an FX5 or FX6, this is not the correct part.

Not included
The canister body, media baskets, hoses, taps and impeller are not included – this is the motor end only. If the impeller assembly or impeller shaft are also worn, they're sold separately.

Suitable for the Fluval FX4, fresh or marine. Not suitable for the FX2, FX5 or FX6, which use different motor units.

Mains-powered – isolate power at the wall before opening the canister or fitting this part. Check the power cord for damage before use, and don't run the filter dry.

Common questions
Is this a full replacement filter, or just the motor?
Just the motor and pump end, with the power cord and a new seal ring included. Your existing canister body, media baskets and impeller stay in use.
My FX4 hums but won't push water – is this what I need?
That's a common symptom of a worn motor unit after years of continuous running, and this part is the usual fix. Rule out a clogged or worn impeller first – it's cheaper to replace and just as likely.
Do I need an electrician to fit it?
No – it's a plug-fit swap onto the existing canister body. Isolate power at the wall first, and don't fit it if the old cord shows any damage.
Does it include the impeller?
No. The impeller assembly and shaft are separate parts and are usually still good even when the motor has failed.
