Fluval Impeller Brush Set
Two purpose-sized brushes for cleaning inside a filter's impeller well. The Fluval Impeller Brush Set pairs a narrower and a wider bristle brush so you can clear built-up slime and grit from an impeller, its cover, the impeller well and the drive shaft – the parts a standard cleaning brush is too big to reach.
Key features
- Two brush diameters – a 1.25 cm (0.5″) brush and a 0.6 cm (0.25″) brush, both 8.5 cm (3.5″) long, for different clearances inside the impeller well.
- Reaches impeller shafts and wells – narrow enough to clean the parts a general filter brush can't get into.
- Regular use extends impeller life – clearing slime and grit build-up before it wears the impeller or drags on the shaft reduces the chance of a premature impeller replacement.

What it's for
Use the brushes to clean impellers, impeller covers, motor wells and shafts on canister and internal filters. Fluval doesn't publish a model-specific fitment list for this set – the two diameters are sized to suit impeller wells generally rather than one specific filter range, so check the brush fits your filter's opening before relying on it as your only cleaning tool.
Care and maintenance
Clean the impeller assembly every time you service the filter media – a slimy or gritty impeller is one of the most common causes of reduced flow and motor noise. Rinse the brushes after use so they don't reintroduce debris next time.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Fluval's standard warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Will this fit my Fluval canister filter's impeller well?
The two brush diameters suit most Fluval canister and internal filter impeller wells, but Fluval doesn't publish an exact fitment list. Compare the brush diameter to your impeller well opening if you're not sure.
How often should I clean the impeller?
Check it at every filter media service – a slower-than-usual flow or a new hum from the motor is usually the first sign it needs attention.
