Suitable for the U4 only. The U1, U2 and U3 share a different shaft assembly (A15101), sold as the Fluval U Internal Filter Impeller Shaft for U1/U2/U3.

Unplug the filter before taking it apart. Fluval's instructions are to rinse the impeller and its attached magnet in clean water, never with detergent or soap, and to clean the impeller well (the recess the impeller sits in) with a small brush or cotton bud.
