Footprint, weight, pump wattage, voltage draw and a noise rating are not published by Red Sea for this model, so we have left those out rather than guess.

Red Sea rates its REEFER skimmers against three tank types, since the same skimmer services a much bigger fish-only system than an SPS reef of equal volume. These are Red Sea's own published figures for the 900 (PSK1200):

Size against your heaviest bioload, not the biggest number – an SPS reef past 900 litres will run behind on nutrient export even inside the fish-only figure.

Suitable for a REEFER 900 sump, or an equivalent chamber with 20-24 cm of working water height, on a system within the volumes above. Not suitable for nano tanks, sumpless systems, aquariums beyond 2700 litres, or chambers without clearance to lift the cup out.

Skimmer body with base and pump holder, Sicce PSK1200 pump (pre-fitted), collection cup and lid, neck wiper and blades, waste tube and valve, air silencer, venturi and diffuser, and mounting hardware.

Run the neck wiper daily and drain the cup regularly – an overfull cup can back skimmate up into the sump. Red Sea's manual recommends washing the cup and wiper every 7-10 days, and pulling the pump monthly to rinse the impeller (a mild vinegar soak clears scale). A skimmer left unemptied stops skimming well before it overflows.

This is a mains-powered aquarium appliance. Fit a drip loop in the power cord, never run it with a damaged cord or plug, and isolate power before reaching into the sump. As supplied through Red Sea's Australian distribution this unit is wired for 220-240V/50Hz on a standard AU 3-pin plug.

Will it fit my REEFER 900 sump?

Yes – it is built to the skimmer chamber dimensions of the standard REEFER 900 sump, and needs 20-24 cm of water height to run correctly.

What tank size can it handle?

Per Red Sea's own chart: up to 900 L for an SPS-dominant reef, up to 1800 L for a mixed reef, and up to 2700 L for a fish-only system. Match it to your heaviest bioload, not your total water volume.

How often does the cup need emptying?

Check it daily until you know your system's rate. Red Sea also recommends washing the cup and neck wiper every 7-10 days.

Is this the same skimmer built into the REEFER 750 MAX?

No. This is the standalone PSK1200 (AC pump) skimmer sold as a component for REEFER 900-class sumps, not the skimmer bundled into the 750 MAX system.

Is there a DC-pump version?

Red Sea also sells a REEFER DC Skimmer 900 with a controllable pump separately. This listing is the standard fixed-speed AC PSK1200 version, so no controller is needed.
