Red Sea Reefwave 25 Power Supply

Random restarts point to the power supply first. This is the genuine Red Sea power supply (part number R35231) for the ReefWave 25 – it converts household AC power to the low-voltage DC the pump and controller run on, and is the correctly rated, exact-fit replacement when a supply fails or a cable is damaged. It fits the ReefWave 25 only; the ReefWave 45 draws more power and uses its own supply, part number R35242.

Key features
  • Genuine Red Sea power supply, exact fit for the ReefWave 25 (RW25) only
  • Correctly rated for the ReefWave 25's pump and controller – the RW45 needs its own, higher-rated supply
  • Plug-in replacement – no rewiring
  • Runs from a standard AU power point on the included AU-fitted plug
Specifications
Fits Red Sea ReefWave 25 (RW25) only
Does not fit Red Sea ReefWave 45 (RW45) – use power supply R35242 instead
Genuine part number R35231
Input Household AC mains, AU plug fitted (240 V / 50 Hz power point)
Output 24 V DC to the pump and controller
Powers ReefWave 25 pump and its dedicated controller

Red Sea does not publish this power supply's exact input tolerance or output current on its own spec sheet; the 24 V DC output is corroborated by several independent replacement-adapter listings built specifically for R35231, and the AU-market unit ships wired for a standard 240 V / 50 Hz power point.

Will this fix my pump?

A ReefWave that's dead, won't power on, or restarts on its own is more often a failing power supply than a failed pump – Red Sea's own guidance is to try the power supply before assuming a motor fault. Check the cable and connector for damage first; a cracked cable jacket or bent pin is a cheaper fix than a new supply.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suited to a ReefWave 25 that won't power on, cuts out intermittently, or has a visibly damaged cable or plug. Not the fix for a pump that powers on but runs weak or noisy – that's the impeller, cage or motor assembly, not the power supply.

Safety

Use only the power supply made for this pump – Red Sea's manual is explicit that other supplies aren't supported. Keep the connection away from splashes with a drip loop in the cable, and unplug at the wall before disconnecting or reconnecting it.

Goes well with

If the supply has failed from age rather than damage, it's worth checking the controller at the same time, since both run from the same low-voltage circuit.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Red Sea's 24-month warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law – this doesn't cover damage from a cut or crushed cable. Small and light – standard parcel delivery.

Common questions

Does this fit the ReefWave 45?

No. The ReefWave 45 draws more power and needs its own supply, part number R35242 – fitting the RW25 supply to an RW45 will under-power it.

My pump is dead – is it definitely the power supply?

Not definitely, but it's the more common cause than a failed motor. Check the cable for visible damage first, then try the power supply before assuming the pump itself has failed.

Is it a simple plug-in swap?

Yes – no rewiring or tools needed, it plugs straight into the pump's controller and the wall.
