Red Sea ReefWave 45 External Mounting Magnets

Holds the ReefWave 45 pump against glass up to 20 mm thick. The Red Sea ReefWave 45 External Mounting Magnet (genuine part R35249) is the outside half of the pump's magnetic mount. It clamps through the display glass to the internal magnet built into the pump housing, holding the ReefWave 45 in place and letting you reposition it as your aquascape changes. It fits the ReefWave 45 only – the ReefWave 25's external magnet is a different part, R35238.

Key features
  • Genuine Red Sea external magnet for the ReefWave 45 (part R35249).
  • Rated to hold securely through glass up to 20 mm (3/4 in) thick.
  • Magnetic mount lets you reposition the pump without draining the tank or resealing anything.
  • Pairs with the pump's built-in internal magnet set – worth replacing both together if one side has weakened.
Specifications
Fits Red Sea ReefWave 45 only (not ReefWave 25)
Genuine part number R35249
Maximum glass thickness 20 mm (3/4 in)
Mounting type External magnetic half – pairs with the internal magnet set inside the pump housing
Will it fit my tank?

Measure your display glass before ordering: this magnet is rated to 20 mm (3/4 in). On glass thicker than that, magnetic hold weakens and the pump can slip or detach, especially at higher flow settings. Check with us before fitting to an unusually thick-walled or acrylic display.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for a ReefWave 45 pump whose external magnet has been lost, cracked, or has lost enough strength to let the pump slip on the glass. Not suitable for the ReefWave 25 – its external magnet is a different part, R35238 – and not a fix for a pump that has stopped moving water, which points to the motor assembly or impeller instead.

Safety

Handle with care: these are strong magnets that can pinch fingers if the two halves snap together, and they will damage nearby credit cards, magnetic media or pacemakers if stored or carried too close to them. Keep spares stored apart from each other.

Goes well with

Worth replacing alongside the Internal Magnet Set if both halves need replacing together, and the Mounting Bracket if you're relocating the pump to a different spot on the glass.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty on genuine spare parts, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small parcel item at standard freight.

Common questions

What's the maximum glass thickness this works through?

20 mm (3/4 in). Thicker glass reduces the magnetic hold and risks the pump slipping.

Does this fit the ReefWave 25?

No. The ReefWave 25 uses a different external magnet, part R35238.

Do I need to replace the internal magnet too?

Only if it has separately lost strength or been damaged. The two halves are sold separately, as R35249 (external) and R35248 (internal).

Is it safe to handle?

Handle with care – these are strong magnets that can pinch fingers and will affect magnetic media or pacemakers at close range.
