Red Sea Reefwave 45 Impeller Set
The ReefWave 45's main wear part — replace it to restore lost flow. The Red Sea ReefWave 45 Impeller Set (genuine part R35245) is the flow-generating component inside the pump housing. Impeller blades wear or foul with use, and a fresh factory set restores the pump's full rated output. It fits the ReefWave 45 only — the ReefWave 25 uses its own impeller set, part R35234.
Key features
- Genuine Red Sea impeller set for the ReefWave 45 (part R35245).
- The primary flow-generating wear component — blades lose output as they wear or foul.
- Hand-fit, no tools needed — removes and refits as part of routine end-cap and cage disassembly.
- Restores full rated output, up to the pump's 15,000 L/h (3,960 GPH) maximum.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable when flow has visibly dropped, the pump sounds like it's labouring, or the impeller shows worn or chipped blades after opening the end cap for a clean. Not the fix for a pump that's gone completely silent or won't start — that points to the motor assembly or power supply rather than the impeller.
Care and maintenance
Red Sea's manual recommends checking and cleaning the impeller and cage monthly, more often in a heavily stocked or algae-prone tank. Rinse under running water with a soft brush; for stubborn calcium or organic build-up, soak for about an hour in a 10% bleach solution, then rinse thoroughly before refitting.
Goes well with
Worth replacing alongside the Rotor Shaft/Magnet (R35244) at an annual service, or buy the Service Pack (R35255), which bundles the routine wear parts in one purchase.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty on genuine spare parts, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small parcel item at standard freight.
Common questions
How do I know the impeller needs replacing?
Visibly worn, chipped or fouled blades after cleaning, or a drop in flow that a clean doesn't fix.
Do I need tools to fit it?
No. The impeller and cage come out and refit by hand as part of routine end-cap disassembly.
How often should I replace it?
Red Sea doesn't publish a fixed interval. Inspect monthly and replace on wear or damage, or as part of an annual service.
Does this fit the ReefWave 25?
No. The ReefWave 25 uses its own impeller set, part R35234.
