Red Sea Reefwave 45 Motor Assembly
The powered core of the ReefWave 45 — replace it to fix a noisy or dead pump. The Red Sea ReefWave 45 Motor Assembly (genuine part R35243) drives the pump's flow, up to its rated 15,000 L/h (3,960 GPH) maximum. It's a direct-fit replacement for the existing pump housing, used once the impeller and rotor have already been checked. It fits the ReefWave 45 only — the ReefWave 25 uses its own motor assembly, part R35232.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable once you've already tried a rotor/shaft replacement (R35244) and a descale, and the pump is still noisy, weak or won't start. Not the first thing to try — Red Sea's own service order works from the wear parts inward: impeller and cage first, then rotor and shaft, then the motor assembly.
Care and maintenance
Red Sea's manual describes a semi-annual motor service: unplug the power supply, pull the plastic connectors from both ceramic shaft ends (pliers may be needed), push the shaft out from the green side, soak calcium deposits in a bleach or diluted vinegar solution, and clean the motor interior with a bottle brush before checking the ceramic components are undamaged and reassembling.
Goes well with
Often replaced alongside the Rotor Shaft/Magnet (R35244) at the same service, since both wear together inside the same housing.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty on genuine spare parts, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small parcel item at standard freight.
Common questions
How do I know it's the motor and not the impeller or rotor?
Try the cheaper wear parts first — a rotor/shaft replacement (R35244) plus a descale. If noise or weak flow persists, the motor assembly is the next step.
Do I need tools?
Pliers are sometimes needed to remove the plastic connectors from the shaft ends. No other specialised tools are required.
Does this fit the ReefWave 25?
No. The ReefWave 25 uses its own motor assembly, part R35232.
What's the pump's power draw?
The ReefWave 45 draws 8–45 W depending on the speed setting.
