Vectra Battery Backup Booster Cable
Reef tanks don't survive power cuts on flow alone for long – oxygen in the water column and the sump can run low within hours. The Vectra Battery Backup Booster is the interface cable required to run a Vectra return pump from an EcoTech Marine Battery Backup during an outage. It plugs in between the Vectra's controller and the battery backup unit, translating power and control signals so the pump keeps circulating water – and oxygen – through the display and sump while the mains is down.
Key features
- Required for Vectra on battery backup – the Vectra pump series needs this interface to communicate with an EcoTech Marine Battery Backup; it won't run from one without it.
- Keeps flow running during an outage – maintains circulation to the display and sump, which is what keeps both oxygenated while the power is out.
- Auto on/off mode – the booster switches the pump on when mains power drops and off again once it's restored, without manual intervention.
- Adjustable flow and cycling – flow rate and power-cycling intervals can be calibrated to stretch battery runtime further.
- Tool-free connection – plugs in directly between the Vectra controller and the battery backup unit.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any Vectra return pump run on an EcoTech Marine Battery Backup. Not suitable for any other EcoTech product – VorTech, Radion or otherwise. EcoTech's own guidance is explicit that using this booster with anything other than a Vectra pump can cause damage.
Safety
This is a mains-adjacent, safety-relevant accessory: it's what keeps a display and sump oxygenated during a blackout, so treat the pairing rule as non-negotiable rather than a suggestion. Connect it only between a Vectra pump's controller and a genuine EcoTech Marine Battery Backup – not any other EcoTech device.
Care and maintenance
Do I still need this if I already own a Battery Backup?
Yes, if the pump you're running on it is a Vectra. The Battery Backup alone doesn't speak the Vectra's control protocol – this booster is the interface that makes the two work together.
Will it work with my VorTech instead?
No. It's built specifically for the Vectra series and EcoTech warns that using it with other EcoTech products can cause damage – VorTech pumps connect to a Battery Backup directly, without this booster.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by EcoTech Marine's standard manufacturer warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard delivery Australia-wide.
Common questions
What actually happens to my tank during a power outage without this?
Without flow, oxygen in a reef tank's display and sump can run low within a matter of hours – the booster is what lets a Vectra keep circulating on battery power until the mains is back.
Does it need any tools to install?
No – it plugs in directly between the Vectra's controller and the battery backup unit.
Can I set how long the pump runs before it powers down to save the battery?
Yes – flow rate and power-cycling intervals are both adjustable, so you can stretch the battery's runtime to suit how long your outages typically last.
