The fixture built to run your hottest bulb safely. The Zoo Med Deluxe Porcelain Clamp Lamp, 8.5″ (model LF-12), is a heavy-gauge painted aluminium dome fixture with a genuine ceramic (porcelain) socket rated to 150 W — high enough for ceramic heat emitters, halogen bulbs and mercury-vapour UVB bulbs that would melt a standard plastic-socket dome.
The 8.5″ (21.5 cm) reflector sits in the middle of Zoo Med's clamp lamp range, between the 5.5″/100 W and 10″/250 W deluxe domes, and suits most medium to large terrarium and vivarium setups running a single heat or UVB bulb.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any terrarium or vivarium where a heat or UVB bulb up to 150 W needs a genuine ceramic socket. Not suitable for bulbs rated above 150 W — step up to the 10″/250 W model instead — and not designed as a submersible or outdoor fixture.
Safety
Never exceed the 150 W ceramic socket rating. Clamp the fixture securely before switching it on, keep the dome clear of anything flammable, and use a lamp stand where there's nothing solid to clamp to. Ceramic heat emitters and mercury-vapour bulbs run very hot — fit the optional safety cover in any enclosure housing a species that could contact the dome.
Care and maintenance
Zoo Med notes the socket's metal contact tab can be gently bent forward if a bulb isn't making firm contact. Wipe the dome down when cool; don't submerge or hose it out.
