Zoo Med Fireball Bromeliad

Cover, colour and a built-in drinking cup, all in one artificial plant. The Zoo Med Fireball Bromeliad (model BU-60) is a lifelike artificial terrarium plant with water-resistant leaves that hold their colour and shape rather than wilting or fading like a real bromeliad would under terrarium lighting and misting.

Its cupped rosette of leaves collects water droplets from a mister or fogger, encouraging the natural drinking response many arboreal and semi-arboreal species show toward pooled water on foliage rather than a still water bowl, and the dense leaf cover gives smaller or shy animals a place to retreat and feel secure.

Key features
  • Water-resistant, lifelike leaves — won't wilt, fade or break down under regular misting the way a live bromeliad can.
  • Cupped rosette — collects droplets from a mister or fogger and encourages a natural drinking response.
  • Sturdy root stake — anchors securely into substrate rather than sitting loose on top.
  • Cover and privacy — dense leaves give shy, arboreal or juvenile animals somewhere to retreat.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for terrariums and paludariums housing arboreal or semi-arboreal reptiles and amphibians that benefit from foliage cover and droplet-drinking, including many geckos and treefrogs. Not a substitute for live planting where an enclosure's humidity and microclimate rely on real plants, and not intended as a water reservoir on its own — it collects droplets rather than holding standing water.

Care and maintenance

Wipe down periodically to remove substrate dust and mineral build-up from misting, and rinse if it develops a film. The water-resistant leaves tolerate regular misting and fogger use without degrading.

Goes well with

Pairs well with a terrarium mister or fogger to make the most of the droplet-collecting rosette, and with other Zoo Med Naturalistic Flora pieces for layered cover.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard shipping applies.

Common questions

Will this hold standing water for my pet to drink from?

Not as a reservoir — it collects droplets from a mister or fogger on its water-resistant leaves, which encourages the same natural drinking response a real bromeliad's cup would.

Is it safe to mist directly?

Yes, the leaves are water-resistant and designed for regular misting or fogger use.

How does it stay in place?

A root stake anchors it into the substrate so it doesn't shift or float if the substrate gets wet.

What species is it suited to?

Arboreal and semi-arboreal terrarium and paludarium species that use foliage for cover and droplet drinking, such as many geckos and treefrogs.
