Bioscape Dragon Driftwood
Bold, branching driftwood that anchors a layout as a single centrepiece. Bioscape Dragon Driftwood is genuine raw driftwood, not moulded resin, so each branch keeps its own natural bends, forks and worn texture. Sold by the 15 kg box, it suits large-scale aquascapes, paludariums and reptile or frog terrariums that need one dramatic, freestanding piece to build a layout around.
Key features
- Bold, dragon-like branching form — with mini caves and holes through the wood, useful as hiding spots when stacked.
- Centrepiece scale — anchors an aquascape or terrarium build on its own.
- Genuine raw driftwood — sold as a 15 kg box; every piece naturally unique in shape, size and colour.

Which pieces will I receive?
This is natural wood sold by weight, so the mix of pieces in each box varies. Expect large, branching pieces with the dragon character shown in the photos, but treat the photo as representative rather than an exact match — bends, marks and small imperfections are normal on real wood. Bioscape does not publish a fixed piece count or size breakdown for the box.
Preparation
Raw driftwood generally floats until waterlogged. Soaking in a bucket or tub, or weighting it down in the tank, speeds this up; steeping large pieces in hot water helps thicker branches waterlog faster and rinses off surface debris. Expect some tannin release that lightly tints water amber or tea-coloured — cosmetic, not harmful, usually fading over one to several weeks or sooner with water changes or activated carbon. Driftwood tannins are also mildly acidic and can gently soften water chemistry over time.
Suitable for
Freshwater aquariums, paludariums and terrarium builds, including reptile and frog enclosures. Raw wood surfaces are commonly grazed by shrimp and many plecos as part of a varied diet. Marine or reef suitability is not specified by the manufacturer.
Care and maintenance
Rinse pieces before use. A harmless white fungal bloom can appear on new wood in the first few weeks and clears on its own; tannin colour can be managed with water changes or activated carbon.
Warranty and delivery
This is a heavy item at 15 kg per box and may attract oversize or heavy-item freight handling depending on delivery address; check freight options at checkout. Natural variation between pieces is expected and is not a fault. Any fault on arrival is covered under your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Will this turn my aquarium water brown?
Raw driftwood can release tannins that lightly tint water amber, usually fading within a few weeks. Pre-soaking or activated carbon reduces this.
Do I need to soak it before use?
Soaking is recommended, to help the wood waterlog and sink faster and to rinse off loose surface debris.
Is it safe for reptiles, shrimp and plecos?
Yes — raw driftwood like this is commonly used in reptile and frog terrariums, and grazed on by shrimp and many plecos as part of their diet.
