Bioscape Tropic Air Pump 3000 Twin w/2 Check Valves

Two airlines, one pump, tanks up to 300 litres. The Bioscape Tropic 3000 is a twin-outlet air pump moving 360 litres of air an hour across two independent lines — enough to run two sponge filters, an airstone and an ornament, or split power between two smaller tanks from a single pump. Two check valves are included, one for each outlet.

Key features
  • Twin outlets, 360 L/h total — run two air-driven devices, or two separate tanks, from one pump.
  • Two check valves included — one per outlet, protecting against back-siphon on both lines.
  • Energy-efficient diaphragm motor — built for continuous, round-the-clock running.
  • Freshwater and marine safe — suits community tanks, planted tanks and marine sumps alike.
  • Scales to a full-size tank — rated up to 300 L, well beyond the single-outlet Tropic range.

Which Tropic air pump do I need?

The 3000 is the natural upgrade once a tank needs two airlines, or a single tank grows past the single-outlet range. It shares its output and tank-size rating with the Tropic 4000 — the difference between the two isn't power, it's control: the 4000 adds stepless flow adjustment on each outlet, while the 3000 runs both lines at a fixed rate.

Model Outlets Output Tank size Speed control
Tropic 1000 Single 60 L/h Up to 45 L No
Tropic 2000 Single 138 L/h 25–50 L No
Tropic 3000 Twin 360 L/h total 50–300 L No
Tropic 4000 Twin 360 L/h total Up to 300 L Yes — stepless

Choose the 3000 over the 4000 if you don't need to fine-tune each line separately — it's the simpler, fixed-output version at the same total capacity.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for two airlines in one tank up to 300 L, or for splitting one line each across two smaller tanks. Not the right choice if you need to run one line harder than the other — both outlets are fixed and roughly even; for independent per-line control, choose the Tropic 4000 instead.

Safety

Mains-powered — position the pump above the aquarium's waterline where possible, and keep both supplied check valves fitted if the pump sits at or below water level, to prevent back-siphon during a power outage.

Care and maintenance

Keep the housing dry and the intake vents clear of dust. A drop in output on one or both lines over time is usually the internal diaphragm wearing out rather than a fault with the pump — replacement diaphragms (Bioscape BIS53A, sold as a 2-pack) are available as a spare part rather than needing a full pump replacement.

Warranty and delivery

Covered under Bioscape's manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery.

Goes well with
  • Airline tubing — enough to run both outlets to their airstones or filters.
  • Airstones, sponge filters or air-driven ornaments — sized to run two at once off this pump.
  • Replacement diaphragm (BIS53A, 2-pack) — the standard service part for this model.
Common questions

Can I run the two outlets on two different tanks?

Yes — the 3000 is commonly used to run one line each into two smaller tanks, as well as two lines into a single larger tank.

What's the difference between the 3000 and the 4000?

Total output and tank size rating are the same. The 4000 adds stepless adjustable flow control on each outlet; the 3000 runs both outlets at a fixed rate.

Do both outlets run at the same time, and at the same strength?

Yes — both outlets draw from the one motor and run continuously at a fixed, roughly even output.

Is it suitable for a marine sump?

Yes, it's rated for freshwater and marine use.
