Bioscape Black Foam Intake Insert Velocity 1500 1Pk

Replacement intake foam for the Bioscape Velocity 1500 internal filter. This black particulate foam covers the filter's intake slots, screening out gravel, plant debris and larger waste before it reaches the impeller — fit a fresh one once the original has torn or clogged for good.

Key features
  • Sized for the Velocity 1500 only — Bioscape uses a dedicated intake foam per filter size, so this part (BIS168) doesn't cross over with the 400/700 or 2000 inserts.
  • Protects the impeller — mechanical pre-filtration stops larger debris reaching the moving parts, which is what keeps the rated 1,500 L/h flow honest over time.
  • A five-minute fix — a filter that's slowed down is more often the intake foam than the pump.

Which intake foam do I need?

This insert is sized for the Velocity 1500 specifically. If you're not sure which filter you've got, check the flow rating against this table:

Filter model Rated flow Suits aquariums up to Intake foam part
Velocity 400 (BIS160) 400 L/h 40 L BIS165
Velocity 700 (BIS161) 700 L/h 70 L BIS165
Velocity 1500 (BIS163) 1,500 L/h 150 L BIS168 (this product)
Velocity 2000 (BIS164) 2,000 L/h 200 L BIS169
Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for: the intake slots on the Bioscape Velocity 1500 internal filter, freshwater or saltwater.
  • Not suitable for: the Velocity 400/700 (BIS165, smaller) or the Velocity 2000 (BIS169, larger) — the wrong size leaves gaps around the intake.
Care and maintenance

At 1,500 L/h this filter pulls a lot of water through a small foam face, so on a busier tank it's worth checking every week or two rather than waiting for a scheduled water change. Rinse it in used tank water — tap water's chlorine kills off the bacteria living in it — and replace it once it won't spring back to an open texture.

Warranty and delivery

Common questions

How do I know I've got the 1500 and not the 1000 or 2000?

Check the flow rate printed on the filter body — 1,500 L/h for this model, against 1,000 L/h or 2,000 L/h for its neighbours in the range.

Does this fit the Velocity 1000?

Bioscape hasn't published a matching intake foam part number for the 1000 in this listing family — check with us before ordering rather than guessing between the 700 and 1500 sizes.

How often should I replace it?

There's no fixed calendar interval published by Bioscape — rinse it regularly and replace it once it won't rinse back to an open texture or flow noticeably drops even after rinsing.
