Size

A little glass world with its own grow light, sized for a desk or shelf. The Bioscape Nano Moss Terrarium Cylinder is a crystal-clear glass cylinder terrarium with a built-in LED grow light, sold in two sizes — the 150 and the 200 — for growing moss, ferns and miniature tropical plants in a closed, humidity-holding display.

Key features
  • Integrated grow light — a 6500K LED fixture sits in an anodised aluminium housing on top of the cylinder, wired with a 1.5 m cable so it plugs straight into a nearby power point.
  • Adjustable ventilation — the lid vents open to let humidity escape or close to hold it in, so you can dial in the right conditions for moss and ferns without opening the terrarium.
  • Crystal-clear glass cylinder — a single curved cylinder rather than a boxy tank, so the planting inside is visible from every angle.
  • Two sizes, one shape — the 150 suits a bedside table or narrow shelf; the 200 gives noticeably more growing depth for a larger moss or fern display.
Specifications
Size Height Diameter Volume LED
150 26 cm 15 cm 4.1 L 5 W, 6500K, approx. 130 lumens
200 34.5 cm 22.5 cm (10 cm top opening) 5 L 10 W, 6500K, approx. 130 lumens

Both sizes run on 240 V AC, 50 Hz with an Australian plug, and the LED fixture is built from anodised aluminium with a 1.5 m power cable.

Which one do I need?

The 150 is the better fit on a desk, bedside table or narrow shelf where footprint matters more than growing depth. The 200 stands almost 9 cm taller and holds close to a litre more volume, which gives moss, ferns and taller miniature plants noticeably more room to establish before they need trimming.

What's included / what you'll still need

Included: the glass cylinder, the integrated LED grow light with adjustable ventilation lid, and the power cable.

Not included: moss, ferns, plants, substrate or hardscape — these are sold separately so you can build the display to your own design.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for moss, ferns, miniature tropical plants and closed-terrarium displays kept on a desk, shelf or bench. Not designed as an aquarium — it isn't sold or plumbed to hold fish, shrimp or other aquatic livestock long-term.

Care and maintenance

Mist lightly and rarely. A closed terrarium recycles its own moisture through the glass and the vented lid, and overwatering — not underwatering — is the most common way a moss terrarium fails. Open the vents for a few hours if you see heavy condensation building up on the glass.

Warranty and delivery

Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Do I need to add water?

Only a light misting now and then. The closed design holds humidity well, so the terrarium doesn't need topping up like an open planter.

Can I keep shrimp or fish in it?

No — this is a terrarium for moss and plants, not an aquarium, and it isn't set up to hold aquatic livestock.

Does the light run all the time?

You can leave it on a timer for a normal 8–10 hour photoperiod, the same as you would for any planted display; running cost is low given the light draws only 5 W or 10 W depending on size.

Which size fits a narrow shelf best?

The 150, at 15 cm across, is the narrower footprint of the two — the 200 needs closer to 22.5 cm of bench width.
