Exo Terra Medium Extra Tall All Glass Terrarium 60 x 45 x 90cm
Ninety centimetres of climbing height. The Exo Terra Medium Extra Tall Terrarium (60 × 45 × 90 cm) is a front-opening all-glass enclosure built for species that live vertically – chameleons, larger tree frogs, arboreal geckos and tree-dwelling snakes get genuine altitude to climb, perch and establish territory at height.
Key features
- 60 × 45 × 90 cm footprint and height – exceptional vertical space for arboreal and semi-arboreal species.
- Dual lockable front-opening doors – full access at multiple heights without reaching in from above, which unsettles skittish climbers.
- Removable stainless-steel mesh top – ventilation plus UVB penetration for lamps mounted above the enclosure.
- Raised, watertight base – suits an under-tank heat mat and drainage layers for live-planted or paludarium builds.
- Closable cable and tubing inlets – routes probes, misting lines and heat cords without leaving a gap for animals to squeeze through.
- Integrated background – moulded into the rear panel, ready to decorate.
Which terrarium do I need?
| Model | Dimensions (W × D × H) | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Medium Tall | 60 × 45 × 60 cm | Balanced floor space and height – ground-dwelling and semi-arboreal species |
| Medium Extra Tall | 60 × 45 × 90 cm | Species that need real climbing height – chameleons, arboreal geckos, tree frogs, tree-dwelling snakes |
What's included, and what you'll still need
- Included: the glass terrarium body with integrated background, dual lockable front-opening doors, and the removable stainless-steel mesh screen top.
- Not included: substrate, heating, lighting, a thermostat, décor and livestock – these are sold separately so you can build the setup your species actually needs.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for tree-dwelling species that use vertical space – chameleons, day geckos, leaf-tailed and tokay geckos, tree frogs, and arboreal snakes such as tree boas and tree pythons – and as a paludarium for semi-aquatic setups.
- Not the right choice for primarily terrestrial or fossorial species that need floor space more than height – the Medium Tall (60 × 45 × 60 cm) suits those better.
Setting up the enclosure
The mesh top is designed for UVB and heat sources to be mounted above the terrarium rather than inside it, which keeps bulbs out of reach of climbing animals. Mounting distance depends on the specific bulb – check the gradient table on the lamp's own product page and measure down from the mesh to the animal's basking perch, not to the floor.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law. This is a large glass item – freight is oversized and calculated at checkout, and careful handling is recommended when unpacking and positioning it.
Common questions
Will a heat mat work with this terrarium?
Yes – the base is raised and watertight, which is designed to accommodate an under-tank heat mat beneath the substrate.
Can I keep this as a paludarium with a water section?
Yes, the watertight base supports a part-water, part-land paludarium build, in addition to standard terrestrial or arboreal setups.
Does the mesh top reduce UVB output?
Any mesh between a UVB lamp and the animal reduces the UV index reaching the basking spot compared with an open-air reading. Check the specific bulb's product page for its mesh-covered figures and adjust mounting distance accordingly.
