Exo Terra Pro Terrarium Small / Tall 45 x 45 x 60cm
The full 45 x 45 cm footprint with real climbing height. The Exo Terra Pro Terrarium Small/Tall (model PT4405) is a 45 x 45 x 60 cm all-glass enclosure – the tallest of the Small-range Pro Terrariums, built for climbing species that need vertical space more than extra floor area. It carries the Pro range's lockable stainless steel mesh top, spring-loaded lockable front doors and three-tier adjustable ventilation, plus reinforced security features suited to a taller, heavier unit.
Key features
- 60 cm of climbing height – on the same 45 x 45 cm footprint as the Small/Wide, so it suits arboreal species without needing extra floor space.
- Stainless steel mesh top – engineered for optimal UVB penetration for a fixture mounted above the mesh.
- Three-tier adjustable ventilation – patented forced vertical airflow manages condensation across the taller air column.
- Spring-loaded, lockable front doors with optional reinforcement clips – added security for a taller, more determined climber.
- Patented in-frame locking top – locks into the frame rather than resting loose on top.
- Raised, waterproof base – clears a substrate heater and supports a deeper substrate layer.
- Self-closing rear cable inlets with internal gutters – route probes, misting lines and heat cabling cleanly out the back.

Heat and UVB mounting clearance
At 60 cm, this is the tallest Small-range model, giving the most room to separate a high basking or UVB zone from a cooler area lower in the enclosure. Check the bulb's own gradient chart for its minimum safe mounting distance rather than assuming the extra height covers it – a taller enclosure gives more room to work with, but the fixture's own chart still sets the number.
Which Pro Terrarium size do I need?
| Model | Footprint | Height | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Small/Tall | 30 x 30 cm | 45 cm | Smallest footprint with full vertical space – arboreal species kept in a compact setup |
| Small/Low | 45 x 45 cm | 30 cm | Maximum floor space on minimum height – ground-dwelling and fossorial species, including many desert species |
| Small/Wide | 45 x 45 cm | 45 cm | Balanced cube – general keeping across ground-dwelling and low-climbing species |
| Small/Tall | 45 x 45 cm | 60 cm | Full vertical space on a 45 x 45 cm footprint – arboreal and semi-arboreal species |
What's included / what you'll still need
Included: the terrarium unit, the removable lockable stainless steel mesh top, the spring-loaded lockable front doors and the raised waterproof base.
You'll still need: a heat source and, for diurnal species, UVB lighting positioned per that lamp's own gradient chart, a thermostat, substrate, a water dish and climbing decor such as vines or cork bark.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to arboreal and semi-arboreal reptiles and amphibians that use vertical space to move between a basking spot and a cooler lower zone, on the same 45 x 45 cm floor as the Small/Wide.
Not suitable as a permanent full-depth aquatic tank, and not the best choice for strictly ground-dwelling species that won't use the extra height – the Small/Low or Small/Wide is a better fit and uses less vertical space in the room.
Care and maintenance
Open one door at a time when spot-cleaning. Lift the mesh top clear for full access when changing substrate or rearranging climbing decor. Wipe the glass regularly and check door latches and reinforcement clips for wear.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law as a manufactured glass product, in addition to any Exo Terra manufacturer warranty. It's a large, tall glass item – inspect it for transit damage before unpacking fully, and keep packaging until you're sure it arrived intact.
Goes well with
- A heat lamp or heat mat sized to your species, run through a thermostat
- UVB lighting for diurnal species, mounted at the distance its own gradient chart recommends
- Vines, cork bark or branches to make use of the extra climbing height
- A water dish sized to the animal
Common questions
Does the extra height need a taller stand?
The floor footprint (45 x 45 cm) is unchanged from the Small/Wide – check your existing stand or cabinet against that, not the terrarium's own height.
Is the Small/Tall better for climbing species than the Small/Wide?
Yes, if your species actively climbs or benefits from a temperature gradient between a high basking spot and a cooler lower zone.
Does this terrarium include heating or lighting?
No. It ships as the terrarium unit with its mesh top and lockable doors fitted – heating, UVB lighting, a thermostat and substrate are chosen separately.
What are the reinforcement clips for?
They add extra hold to the front doors on this taller model, on top of the standard spring-loaded lock, for keepers who want additional security.
