Exo Terra Reptile Vision Compact Fluoro Bulb 13w

A visual-spectrum bulb that helps reptiles see their world properly. The Exo Terra Reptile Vision Compact Fluorescent Bulb (13 W) is not a UVB lamp — it's a colour-spectrum bulb tuned to the wavelengths reptiles actually use to see. Reptiles have four colour receptors to our three, and standard household or aquarium bulbs are tuned for human eyes, not theirs. Reptile Vision fills that gap, and Exo Terra recommends running it alongside a UVB bulb rather than in place of one.

Key features
  • Matches reptile colour vision — peaks in the wavelengths reptiles' four-receptor eyes are most sensitive to, rather than the three-receptor spectrum humans see.
  • Supports natural behaviour — Exo Terra states it can stimulate appetite and breeding activity and encourage natural behaviour, by improving how clearly an animal perceives its terrarium.
  • Compact fluorescent format — 13 W, designed to run in a standard Exo Terra compact terrarium light fixture.
  • Built for reptile keeping — intended for reptile, amphibian and invertebrate terrariums, not general room lighting.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for: any reptile, amphibian or invertebrate terrarium where you want to add a bulb tuned to how the animal sees, run alongside your existing UVB and heat sources.
  • Not suitable for: use as your only light source. This bulb supplies no UVB — pair it with a Reptile UVB100, UVB150 or UVB200, or a Natural Light bulb, for species that need dietary vitamin D3 synthesis from UVB.
Care and maintenance

Compact fluorescent output fades well before the bulb stops lighting up. Exo Terra recommends replacing this bulb every 12 months, even though it will still glow long after that — the visible glow is not a guide to whether the spectrum is still doing its job.

Warranty and delivery

This bulb is covered by Exo Terra's manufacturer warranty against faults, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. As a light bulb it ships standard — no special freight handling applies.

Common questions

Does this replace my UVB bulb?

No. Reptile Vision has no UVB output. It's a companion bulb for colour perception, not a UVB or heat source — keep your existing UVB bulb running alongside it.

Will this help my reptile eat better?

Exo Terra markets it as supporting appetite and breeding behaviour by improving how the animal sees its environment, though results will vary by species and individual.

How often do I need to replace it?

Annually is Exo Terra's recommendation, since compact fluorescent output drops well before the bulb visibly dims.

What fixture does it fit?

Exo Terra hasn't published the fitting or voltage rating for this specific bulb — check compatibility with your current terrarium light fixture, or ask us to confirm before you order.
