Exo Terra Turtle Food Hatchling Floating Pellets 300gm
Sized for the smallest mouths, from day one. Exo Terra Turtle Food Hatchling Floating Pellets are a complete micro-pellet diet for hatchling aquatic and semi-aquatic turtles such as red-eared sliders, map turtles and wood turtles, formulated with Gammarus shrimp and fortified with vitamins and calcium sources to support early shell and bone development. This 300 g tub floats at the surface, where hatchlings naturally feed, and stays visible so uneaten food is easy to spot and remove.
Key features
- Micro-pellet size — scaled for hatchling mouths, so tiny turtles can grip and swallow easily.
- Floats at the surface — matches how hatchling turtles feed in the wild, and keeps uneaten pellets visible for removal.
- 43% crude protein — a high-protein starter formula to support rapid early growth.
- Fortified with calcium and vitamin D3 — supports shell and bone development from the first feed.
- Gammarus shrimp and fish meal base — a marine-protein formula turtles take to readily.

Feeding directions
Feed as much as your turtle can eat in five minutes, twice daily. Remove uneaten pellets after about an hour to keep the water clean. As the animal grows past the hatchling stage, move up to Exo Terra's Juvenile floating pellets.
Suitable for — and not suitable for
Suitable for hatchling aquatic and semi-aquatic turtle species. Not intended for adult or juvenile turtles, whose nutritional needs and pellet size requirements differ — Exo Terra sells Juvenile and Adult formulas for those stages. Not a fish food.
Goes well with
- Exo Terra Juvenile Floating Pellets, for when your turtle outgrows this hatchling formula.
- A basking platform and UVB lighting, both essential to healthy shell and bone development alongside diet.
- A water test kit, to monitor water quality between feeds.

Common questions
How often should I feed hatchling turtles?
Feed twice daily, offering only as much as your turtle can finish within five minutes, and remove any leftovers after about an hour.
When do I switch to the Juvenile formula?
Move up once your turtle has outgrown taking the micro-pellets comfortably — Exo Terra's Juvenile pellets are the next size up in the same range.
Does this pellet contain ethoxyquin?
Yes — the fish oil component is preserved with ethoxyquin, a common preservative in aquatic feeds. There's no ethoxyquin-free version of this formula from Exo Terra.
Is this suitable for fish as well as turtles?
No — it's formulated specifically for hatchling turtle nutrition and isn't intended as a fish food.
