Fluval 105 Motor/Pump Unit

The complete pump housing for when a new impeller hasn't fixed weak or silent flow.

This is the genuine Fluval motor head housing, part A20180, built for the 104 and 105 canister filters. It's the full electrical pump assembly that sits on top of the canister and drives water through the media – the part to replace when the housing itself has cracked, the priming mechanism won't hold, or a new impeller hasn't restored flow.

Key features
  • Genuine Fluval A20180 – the complete motor head for the 104 and 105, not a generic pump.
  • Restores full pump function – the fix when the housing has cracked or the motor has failed, rather than a worn impeller.
  • Fits the existing filter case – clips onto your current 105 canister body without modification.

Fluval doesn't publish a wattage or voltage figure for this legacy part number on its current spec sheets. Check the rating plate on your existing motor head before wiring in the replacement, and let us know if it doesn't read 240 V.

Will it fit my filter?
Filter model Fluval model code Takes A20180
104 A200 Yes
105 A201 Yes
106 A202 No – see below

The 104 and 105 share the same body and motor head, so A20180 fits both even though this listing is titled for the 105. The 106 uses its own motor head, part A20181, sold separately as the 106 Motor/Pump Unit.

What's included
  • 1 x motor head housing (complete pump assembly)
Not included
  • Magnetic impeller. The wear part inside the housing is sold separately.
  • Impeller cover. A separate clear cap over the impeller well.
  • Motor head gasket. The O-ring that seals the lid is sold separately and worth replacing at the same service.
  • Filter case. The canister body underneath is a different part.
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for a 104 or 105 with a cracked motor head, a priming mechanism that won't hold, or persistent weak flow after the impeller and shaft have already been checked and replaced. Not suitable for the 106 – see above – or for any 07, 03 or FX Series canister.

Care and maintenance

Most flow problems are the impeller, not the motor – check and replace that first, since it costs a fraction of the full housing. Reach for this part when the housing is physically damaged, the clips no longer hold the lid down, or the motor hums without turning even with a known-good impeller fitted.

Warranty and delivery

Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. As a mains-powered part, confirm the voltage marking matches your household supply before fitting. Ships as a standard parcel anywhere in Australia.

Common questions

Do I need a new motor head, or just a new impeller?

Try the impeller first. A cracked or magnet-loose impeller causes the same symptoms – humming, weak or no flow – and costs much less than the full housing.

Does this fit my Fluval 106?

No. The 106 takes its own motor head, part A20181, listed separately.

Is the impeller included with this motor head?

No. The impeller, shaft and impeller cover are sold separately, so you can keep a good impeller and only replace the housing, or the other way around.

What voltage is this part?

Check the rating plate on your existing motor head before fitting. Fluval doesn't publish a voltage figure for this legacy part on its current spec sheets, and we'd rather you check than assume.
