Fluval 206 Impeller Cover
Stops the 206 losing prime at the motor head.
This is the genuine Fluval impeller cover, part A20134, for the 206 Canister Filter (model A207). It is the small clear housing that seals over the impeller well and keeps the magnetic impeller running true. A cracked or missing cover is one of the most common causes of a Fluval 206 that whines, runs dry, or will not hold prime.

Will it fit my filter?
This cover is specific to the 206 Canister Filter (model A207). Fluval's 204 and 205 canister filters use a different impeller cover, A20136, built for a straight-blade impeller – the two are not interchangeable. If you are not sure which model you own, check the label on the motor head or your order history rather than guessing from the impeller shape.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a 206 that has lost prime, run dry, started whining, or arrived second-hand with a cracked or missing cover.
Not suitable for the 204 or 205 – those take A20136. It will not fix noise caused by a worn impeller shaft or a failing motor; if the cover is intact and the filter still whines, check the motor/pump unit next.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the cover in tank water at each service and check it for hairline cracks, especially around the clip points – these are the first place it fails. Reseat it fully before closing the motor head; a cover that is not pressed home is the most common cause of a canister that will not hold prime after a clean.

Common questions
Does the A20134 cover fit a Fluval 204 or 205?
No. The 204 and 205 use a different cover, A20136, built for a straight-blade impeller. Fitting the wrong cover will not seal properly.
My 206 has started whining since a media change – is this the fix?
Often, yes. A cover that is not fully seated, or has a hairline crack, lets air into the impeller well and causes exactly that whine. Check the cover first before assuming the motor has failed.
How do I know if my cover is cracked?
Hold it up to light and check around the clip points, which is where it flexes most. A cover that has gone chalky or brittle will often show a fracture line here before it fails completely.
Does this come with the impeller?
No. This is the cover only. The impeller and shaft are sold separately as part of the motor/pump unit.
