Fluval 304/305/306 & 404/405/406 Motor Seal Ring
One ring, eight filters – the motor head seal Fluval barely changed.
This is the genuine Fluval A20063 motor seal ring, made in Italy – the O-ring that seals the motor head onto the canister body across the entire 300 and 400-series range: 304, 305, 306, 307, 404, 405, 406 and 407. A canister that weeps at the seam where the head meets the case is very often this ring going hard and flat, not a crack in the housing.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20063 – made in Italy, the same ring Fluval has used across this filter family since the head design was standardised.
- Fits eight models – 304/305/306/307 and 404/405/406/407, so one spare covers the range regardless of which one is on the shelf.
- Fixes the most common leak point – a chalky, flattened ring at the head-to-case join, not usually a fault in the canister itself.

This ring also fits the 307 and 407, beyond what's named in the title above. It does not fit the smaller-bodied 105/205, 106/206 or 107/207 "07 series" filters, which use a different motor head and a different O-ring – see the 07 series motor head gasket O-ring for those.
What's included, and not included
Includes 1 x motor seal ring. Does not include the impeller or impeller cover – see the companion parts below.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any 304–407 series canister leaking at the head seam. Not suitable for the 07 series or any FX-series canister.
Care and maintenance
Check the ring for flattening or hardening at each service. A light smear of silicone-safe grease helps reseating and can extend the seal's life, though it isn't required for it to work.
Goes well with
- 304/305/404/405 impeller cover – for flat-fan units also due a cover
- 304/305/306 impeller assembly, flat fans – if the impeller itself is worn
- 304–407 ribbed hosing, 14 mm – for perished or discoloured hose runs
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Does one ring really fit all eight models?
Yes. Fluval used the same motor head seal across the 304–307 and 404–407 range once the head design was standardised.
Does this fit the smaller 105/106/107 "07 series" filters?
No. Those use a different motor head and a different O-ring – see the 07 series motor head gasket instead.
How do I know it's this ring and not the impeller seal?
Leaking at the case-to-head seam points to this ring. A leak around the impeller shaft is a separate, smaller seal.
Can I reuse the old ring after cleaning it?
Only if it's still supple. Once it's gone hard, flat or cracked, cleaning won't restore the seal.
