Fluval Algae Magnet and Razor Medium
Scrape and scrub without putting your hands in the water. The Fluval Razor+ 2-in-1 Algae Magnet (Medium) pairs a magnetic glass cleaner with a 316 stainless steel scraper blade – glide the outer handle across the glass and the inner pad follows on the inside, with the blade ready to flip out for algae the pad alone won't shift. Medium is built for glass up to 10 mm thick, putting it in range for most standard and mid-size aquariums.
Key features
- 2-in-1 head – flip between a non-abrasive scrubber pad and a 316 stainless steel blade without swapping tools.
- Magnetic drive – clean the inside of the glass by moving the outer handle, hands stay dry.
- Anti-friction pads – the outer handle glides rather than drags across the glass.
- Rounded scrubber – works on flat or curved-front tanks.
- Fresh and marine safe – rated for both freshwater and saltwater use.

Will it fit my tank?
Check your glass thickness before ordering – Medium is rated to 10 mm. Thicker display glass on large tanks may need a stronger magnet than this size provides; thinner nano glass is better matched to the Small, which is gentler and rated to 6 mm.

| Best suited to | Nano and small tanks | Standard and mid-size tanks |
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for glass aquariums within the 10 mm thickness rating, in fresh or marine water. Not suitable for acrylic tanks – the stainless steel blade will scratch acrylic. Not suitable for glass thicker than 10 mm; the magnet won't hold reliably and may drop the inner pad onto substrate or livestock.
Care and maintenance
Rinse sand and grit off the pad before use – a trapped grain scratches glass as readily as it removes algae. The blade is replaceable (Fluval part #11086) when it dulls or corrodes, rather than needing to replace the whole tool.
Safety
Keep fingers clear when separating the two magnetic halves – they attract strongly through glass. If the inner half detaches inside the tank it floats, so retrieval doesn't mean reaching past livestock into substrate.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Fluval's standard consumer warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Will this work on my acrylic tank?
No – the stainless steel blade will scratch acrylic. Use a soft acrylic-safe pad cleaner instead.
What happens if I use it on glass thicker than 10 mm?
The magnetic hold weakens with glass thickness. On glass over 10 mm the pad may not track reliably or could separate – go up a size or choose a magnet rated for your glass thickness.
Can I use just the scrubber without the blade?
Yes – the blade is a flip-out attachment for stubborn spot algae, the scrubber pad handles routine cleaning on its own.
Is the blade replaceable?
Yes, Fluval part #11086 is sold separately as a 3-pack of replacement blades.
