Fluval CO2 Indicator Set Refill Solution
A 10 mL refill of the colour-change solution used in the Fluval CO2 Indicator, so you don't need to buy a new glass reservoir when it runs low. Dispensed into your existing indicator, it changes colour against a HIGH / IDEAL / LOW chart to give you a quick read on dissolved CO2 in a planted freshwater tank.
Key features
- Refill only – for topping up an existing Fluval CO2 Indicator glass reservoir, not a standalone unit.
- 10 mL bottle – enough for multiple top-ups of the indicator's small reservoir.
- Colour-matched readout – compares against a HIGH / IDEAL / LOW chart on the original packaging.

Setup, use and dosing
Using the instructions for the Fluval CO2 Indicator Set: dispense the solution into the glass reservoir, rotate the reservoir upright until the sphere is about one-third full (don't add tank water), then mount it inside the aquarium about 10 cm below the surface with the opening facing down, away from your CO2 diffuser. Fluval recommends changing the solution every 30 days to keep readings accurate.
Care and maintenance
Replace the solution roughly every 30 days, and sooner if the colour stops matching any point on the HIGH / IDEAL / LOW reference chart. Keep the reservoir away from direct CO2 diffuser output, which can skew the reading.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for owners of a Fluval CO2 Indicator Set who need to top up the solution rather than replace the whole unit.
- Not suitable for precise CO2 measurement – it's a visual approximation, not a substitute for a drop checker calibrated to your KH or a CO2 test kit.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Fluval's standard consumer warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships standard parcel delivery.
Common questions
Does this come with the glass reservoir?
No – this is the refill solution only. You'll need the Fluval CO2 Indicator Set's glass reservoir already set up in your tank to use it.
How often should I change the solution?
Fluval recommends changing it every 30 days to keep the colour reading reliable.
How accurate is it?
It gives an approximate read against a HIGH / IDEAL / LOW chart rather than a precise ppm figure – pair it with regular pH and KH testing for a fuller picture.
