Bioscape Mineral Airstone (Carded)
A mineral airstone in five lengths, nano to full-width curtains. Bioscape's Mineral Airstone connects to standard airline tubing from any aquarium air pump, breaking the airflow into a curtain of fine bubbles that lifts oxygen exchange and adds movement to the water. It's sold in five lengths, 52 mm to 300 mm, so the same stone scales from a nano tank to a full tank-width bubble wall.
Key features
- Fine, even bubbles — mineral stone construction diffuses airflow into a curtain rather than large, noisy bubbles.
- Five lengths — 52, 100, 150, 200 and 300 mm, so the bubble curtain can be sized to the tank rather than the tank fitted around one stone size.
- Standard airline fitting — connects directly to the airline tubing already running from your air pump.
- Boosts oxygen exchange — extra surface agitation helps gas exchange, useful when stocking is heavy or during hot weather when dissolved oxygen drops.
Specifications

Which size do I need?
As a rough guide, match the stone length to roughly a third to half of your tank's width for a curtain that reads as a feature rather than a single stream of bubbles — a 300 mm stone suits tanks in the 90 cm-plus range, while 52-100 mm suits nano and small tanks. Airline splitters let you run more than one stone off a single pump if you want a wider spread than one stone provides.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and marine aquariums running standard airline tubing and any diaphragm or piston air pump. Not suitable for use without an air pump — the stone is a passive diffuser and does nothing without airflow behind it. Not intended as the sole aeration source in a heavily stocked tank, where a properly sized filter and surface agitation still do most of the work.
Care and maintenance
Mineral airstones clog gradually as mineral deposits and biofilm build up inside the stone, showing up as bigger, uneven bubbles or reduced flow. They're not usually worth cleaning — replace the stone every few months rather than running a clogged one, since the extra back-pressure strains the pump's diaphragm over time.

Common questions
Do I need a separate air pump?
Yes. The airstone is a passive diffuser — it needs airflow from an air pump connected by airline tubing to produce bubbles.
What size should I get?
Roughly a third to half your tank's width, as a starting point — see the size table above. You can also run two smaller stones off a splitter if you want a wider spread than one stone gives.
How often should I replace it?
Every few months, when the bubbles get bigger and less even. That's mineral deposit and biofilm build-up inside the stone, and it's simpler and cheaper to replace than to try to clean out.
Can I use it in a marine tank?
Yes, mineral airstones suit both freshwater and marine aquariums.
