Fluval Fine Pre Filter Cartridge G3
The fine pre-filter cartridge is what keeps a Fluval G3's water polish-clear rather than just clean. This 75-micron pleated cartridge fits the Fluval G3 Advanced Filtration System only, and is designed for daily use in marine aquariums with light debris, or as a polishing stage on a freshwater or planted tank.
Will it fit my filter?
This cartridge (Fluval part A417) is sized for the Fluval G3 system only. The larger Fluval G6 uses a different cartridge (Fluval A418, sold separately) – check your filter's model number before ordering, as G3 and G6 media are not interchangeable.

Care and maintenance
Rinse every 14 days under tap or tank water, or sooner if the G3's low-flow alert appears. Squeeze gently rather than scrubbing, to avoid tearing the pleats.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for the Fluval G3 only. Not suitable for the Fluval G6, or for any other Fluval canister filter – fit the standard (non-fine) G3 pre-filter, Fluval A415, instead if you don't need the extra polishing stage.

You don't, in the usual sense – it's washable and reusable. Rinse it every 14 days rather than replacing it, and only buy a new one if it tears or the mesh degrades.
Will this fit my Fluval G6?
No. The G6 takes its own fine pre-filter cartridge (Fluval A418), which is a different size.
