Fluval FX5/FX6 Motor + Impeller + O-Ring 50Hz 41w
A complete new power end for a Fluval FX5 or FX6. This is the genuine Fluval motor unit – Fluval part number A20201-50, sold on this site under the Hagen part code PF151, in the 41 W / 50 Hz specification built for Australian 230–240 V mains – for the Fluval FX5 and FX6 canister filters. It's the full power-end replacement: motor, impeller and seal ring in one assembly, bringing a tired or failed filter back to as-new performance for well under the cost of a new FX.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval part – the same motor unit fitted to a new FX5 or FX6.
- Complete power end – motor, impeller and seal ring included as one assembly, not sold separately.
- 230–240 V / 50 Hz – the correct spec for Australian mains; do not fit a 60 Hz motor from a US-spec filter.
- Direct-fit swap – fits onto your existing canister body without replacing the whole filter.

Will it fit my filter?
This motor unit fits the Fluval FX5 and the Fluval FX6 canister filter body – it is not listed as fitting the smaller Fluval FX4. It's built to the 230–240 V / 50 Hz Australian mains spec; if your filter was imported on 120 V / 60 Hz US wiring, this is not the correct motor. Check the model and voltage printed on your filter's motor housing lid before ordering.
What's included
- 1 x motor unit
- 1 x impeller
- 1 x seal ring
Everything needed to replace the power end in one part – you don't need to separately order the seal ring or impeller assembly alongside this.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any Fluval FX5 or FX6 on Australian 230–240 V / 50 Hz mains, running fresh or marine water. Not suitable for the Fluval FX4, FX2, or any filter wired for 120 V / 60 Hz.
Fitting it
The motor unit swaps onto the existing canister body using the same fasteners as the original. If your FX hums but doesn't pump, has stopped starting reliably, or trips a safety switch when it runs, a failed motor is the likely cause and this part is the definitive fix – cheaper than a new filter and keeps your existing media and plumbing in place.
Goes well with
- Fluval FX5/FX6 impeller assembly – already included here, but worth knowing as a cheaper fix if only the impeller has worn.
- Fluval FX5/FX6 motor seal ring – already included here, but useful as a spare for future services.
- Fluval FX5/FX6 output nozzle – worth checking for cracks while the filter is already open.
Warranty and delivery

Common questions
My FX5/FX6 hums but doesn't pump – do I need this or just the impeller?
Try the impeller assembly first if the motor still turns and runs quietly once freed up – it's the cheaper fix. If the motor itself is noisy, won't start reliably, or trips a breaker, this full motor unit is the correct part.
Is this cheaper than buying a new FX5 or FX6?
Yes – this replaces the power end only, reusing your existing canister body, media and plumbing.
Will this work on a US-spec (120 V) FX5 or FX6?
No. This is the 230–240 V / 50 Hz version built for Australian mains. Fitting the wrong voltage motor is an electrical safety hazard.
Does this include the seal ring and impeller, or do I need to buy those separately?
Both are included in this assembly – no need to order them separately.
