Size

Bluetooth reef LED with a full PAR-at-depth curve for every wattage it's sold in. The Fluval Marine 3.0 is a Bluetooth-controlled marine-spectrum LED fixture sold in three lengths — 32 W, 46 W and 59 W — to fit tanks from 61 cm to 145 cm. It is the previous generation to the Fluval Reef 4.0, and Fluval still sells and supports it as a lower-cost marine light with the same core spectrum.

Key features
  • Marine spectrum with deep blues — a 25000K white channel across seven wavelength bands (10000–13000K, 400nm, 420nm, 440nm, 460nm, 480nm and pink), built for coral colour and growth.
  • FluvalSmart Bluetooth app control — program a 24-hour cycle from your phone; a touch-switch on the fixture gives manual on/off and dimming without the app.
  • IP67-rated housing — sealed against splash and humidity above an open-top tank.
  • 50,000-hour LED lifespan — rated to run for years of daily photoperiods before output drops off.
Specifications
Wattage Fits tank length LEDs Light output SKU
32 W 61–85 cm 168 1,350 lm FLED55
46 W 91–122 cm 252 1,950 lm FLED56
59 W 115–145 cm 336 2,550 lm Contact us to confirm current SKU

All three wattages share the same spectrum, IP67 housing and Bluetooth app control. Colour temperature is rated at 25000 K. Fluval does not publish a 22 W Marine 3.0 model for this range — the smallest length sold here is 32 W.

Which wattage do I need?

Match the wattage to your tank's external length, not its volume. All three units cover an extendable range, so measure your tank's length before ordering rather than rounding to the nearest model.

Performance: PAR at depth
Distance below fixture 32 W — PAR 46 W — PAR 59 W — PAR
7.6 cm 376 381 390
15.2 cm 222 236 243
30.5 cm 90 94 102
45.7 cm 47 55 63

PAR drops fast with distance — by 45.7 cm even the 59 W model reads under a fifth of its value at 7.6 cm. Keep SPS and other high-light corals in the top third of the water column rather than relying on wattage alone to reach the sand bed.

Generation and version differences

The Marine 3.0 is the predecessor to the Fluval Reef 4.0. Both run a comparable marine spectrum and IP67 housing; the 4.0 range adds Bluetooth Mesh (for linking multiple fixtures) in place of the 3.0's single-fixture Bluetooth, and is available down to a 22 W size that the 3.0 range here does not offer. Mounting hardware is not interchangeable between the two generations — check you're ordering the bracket for the model you own.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: reef and marine fish-only-with-live-rock tanks, soft corals and LPS across all three wattages, and SPS in the upper water column where PAR is confirmed above.

Not suitable for: freshwater planted tanks — this is a marine spectrum, not the warmer white and red spectrum a planted tank needs.

Running costs and noise

Silent — there is no fan. Indicative running cost, based on a 10-hour reef photoperiod at 30c/kWh:

Wattage Annual kWh Approx. annual cost
32 W 117 kWh $35
46 W 168 kWh $50
59 W 215 kWh $65
Warranty and delivery

Covered by Fluval's manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Built for 240 V / 50 Hz Australian mains with an AU plug. Standard parcel delivery.

Common questions

What's the difference between the Marine 3.0 and the Reef 4.0?

Both run a comparable marine spectrum. The Reef 4.0 adds Bluetooth Mesh for linking multiple fixtures and is available in a smaller 22 W size; the Marine 3.0 controls one fixture at a time from the app and starts at 32 W.

Can I control it without the app?

Yes — the touch-switch on the fixture gives manual on/off and dimming. Programmable sunrise/sunset cycles need the FluvalSmart app.

Will this grow SPS coral?

All three wattages deliver a measured PAR above 375 in the top 7.6 cm of water, which is in SPS range. Depth and coral placement matter as much as wattage — keep demanding corals high in the tank.

Is it splash-safe over an open-top tank?

Yes, the housing is IP67-rated against water, moisture and dust.
