Fluval Pre Filter Cartridge G6
Genuine Fluval A416 pleated pre-filter for the G6 Advanced Filtration System. This is the mechanical stage that catches suspended debris before the G6's three media baskets, and it's the part you'll service most often.
Fits the Fluval G6 Advanced Filtration System only – it does not fit the smaller G3. The G6 canister is rated for aquariums up to roughly 600 litres (160 US gallons), with a pump rated to 650 US GPH and filter circulation up to 265 US GPH once media is loaded.

Will it fit my filter?
Specific to the G6. The smaller G3 uses the A415 cartridge, sold separately as the Fluval Pre Filter Cartridge G3; the two aren't interchangeable because the G3 and G6 media baskets are different sizes. The model name is moulded into the canister lid if you need to check.
Which G6 pre-filter do I need?
Fluval sells this standard pleated cartridge (A416) and the Fluval Fine Pre-Filter Cartridge G6 (A418), which uses denser media for finer polishing at the cost of clogging faster. Run the standard A416 day to day and add the fine version if you need extra water clarity.
Care and maintenance
Rinse in removed aquarium water every 2–3 weeks, or sooner if flow through the G6 drops. Replace once the pleats stay compressed or torn after rinsing.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any Fluval G6 running fresh or marine water. Not suitable for the Fluval G3, or for any Fluval canister outside the G-series.

Does this replace the whole G6 filter?
No, it's only the mechanical pre-filter stage. The chemical and biological media are sold separately.
