Ocean Nutrition frozen cyclops
A frozen live-food replacement small enough for fry and filter feeders. Ocean Nutrition Frozen Cyclops is a 100 g pack of whole cyclops bound into cubes with a little water and guar gum, sized for small-mouthed fish, fry and filter-feeding corals. It works across both freshwater and marine setups and is designed to be fed straight from frozen, not thawed first.
Key features
- Whole cyclops in a stable cube — guar gum holds the cube together so it releases food gradually rather than dissolving into cloud on contact.
- Fed frozen, not thawed — the cube is designed to hold its shape through the feeding window; thawing it first works against that.
- Suits fresh and marine setups — one product covers both sides of the fishroom.
- Works as a live-food substitute — a practical stand-in for live cyclops when rearing fry or feeding fussy filter feeders.
- Takes LPS and SPS corals as well as fish — small enough particle size for polyp feeding.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to angels, tetras, corydoras, swordtails, gobies and seahorses, plus feather dusters and LPS and SPS corals. Also used as a live-food replacement for freshwater and marine fish larvae being reared on. Not sized for larger predatory fish, which will get more out of a coarser frozen food such as krill or mysis.
Feeding and thawing
Feed two to three times a day, offering only as much as fish will clear within five minutes. Ocean Nutrition specifically advises against thawing this product first — the cube is designed to be dropped straight into the tank frozen, where it holds together and releases gradually rather than clouding the water on contact.
Warranty, delivery and storage
Keep frozen until use. This is a frozen product — our published delivery terms don't currently spell out cold-chain handling for frozen foods, so check with the store before ordering if timing or transit temperature matters to you. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in addition to anything stated here.
Common questions
Should I thaw the cube before feeding?
No — Ocean Nutrition's own feeding directions for this product say to drop the frozen cube straight into the tank. Thawing it first works against how the cube is designed to hold together and release food gradually.
How often should I feed it?
Two to three times a day, in an amount your fish will finish within about five minutes. Overfeeding leftover cyclops is what fouls water, not the food itself.
Is this suitable for a freshwater tank, a marine tank, or both?
Both. Cyclops is one of the few Ocean Nutrition frozen foods rated for fresh and marine systems on the same pack.
Can I use this to feed fry?
Yes — the small particle size and cube format make it a practical substitute for live cyclops when rearing fry that are past the newly-hatched stage.
Will corals eat this?
LPS and SPS corals will take it, released gradually as the cube breaks down in the water column.
Goes well with
Rotates well with other Ocean Nutrition frozen foods — offering a mix of particle sizes across a week keeps both small fry-stage fish and adult fish and corals covered.
